It seems to me that maybe pretty much always means no...

Well, if you're wondering why I haven't updated in a week, the answer is that I was in FLORIDA!! I'm not sure if you know this about me, but I love Florida. I know! That's weird, right? Since if you know me, you also know that I'm not a fan of warm weather. And that's kind of the definition of Florida. At least it was last time I checked. But I guess I'm just weird like that. I love almost everything about warm weather locations... except the warm weather. Bizarre.

Anyway, I went on my first plane ride, and it was pretty fantastic. Some minor setbacks to the fun were that it started out really cloudy and then got dark pretty fast. BUT... that ended up being cool, because I liked to look out at the city lights after dark (the cloudiness factor went away for most of the trip after dark).

The huge negative? My ears went on the fritz. I mean, I was prepared for my ears to pop. But this wasn't your average popping. I did everything imaginable to make it stop, and it seriously just got worse. This kicked in on the descent. So here I was, enjoying myself SO much, staring out the window at the awesome city lights below, when BAM. Pressure. Oh, OK... well, I knew this was coming. I start chewing gum, swallowing like mad... nothing helps. I'm thinking OK... well, maybe it'll just be a bit worse because I have a cold.

Oh, it wasn't a bit worse. It was a whole crapload worse. It hurt like CRAP, man! (See: Kung Pow). All joking aside... it was probably one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. My ears THROBBED. The pressure just kept increasing until I couldn't hear anymore. All I could hear was buzzing and everyone's voices around me, including my own, were almost entirely muffled. I just leaned over in my seat, holding my head in pain, praying for the plane to land soon. And it did... and I figured it would be over, but the pain remained. The pain finally subsided, but the stuffy feeling and the inability to hear remained. I tried all of the tricks to get my ears to pop, and still nothing. Finally, when we got back into the main building to pick up our luggage, I hit up the bathroom and tried blowing my nose. That helped them pop a little bit. By the next day my ears were finally back to normal.

But I mean... it was horrible. And right now my ear is feeling funny. I'm not sure if it's because I'm sick or if something happened to it during this whole ordeal. But I'm going to the doctor tomorrow for my sinus infection (I'm sure that's what it is) anyway, so I'm going to ask him to take a look at my ears and figure out how to fly without this happening again.

So now that all of that is out of the way, on to the positive! I had a great time just relaxing in Florida. I ate WAY too much (gained a wee bit o' my weight back, but nothing I can't lose again fairly quickly), watched some movies, finished the next two discs of American Dreams (bring on the next!!!), drank orange soda from a glass bottle (mmmm), saw Kennedy Space Center (which was full of 60s awesomeness, as predicted), and spent some quality time on the beach (half of which was nice and warm and sunburn-inducing, half of which was FREEZING COLD). All in all, it was a great mini-vacation. (I say mini because it only lasted from Monday afternoon to Friday night.)

It ended with less than pleasantness, though. I had to ride home in a car, sitting in the backseat with my mom and my grandma. On top of that, my dad was (is) sick and through sitting in the car with him and staying in the same hotel room, I'm starting to get what he has. Which is not good, as we found out today he has bronchitis. Mine better just stay at the sinus infection stage. It should, since I'm going to the doctor to get it all figured out tomorrow.

But we FINALLY made it home, and I'm feeling a bit better. So that's good.

Um... that's about it. We're going back in a few weeks. Mom already bought the tickets. Should be fun, as my grandparents (maternal, not the ones I rode back with... the ones that own the house we stayed in) will be there then... and it'll be a longer vacation, and it'll probably be warmer.

See Facebook for pics, if you can/want. I'm uploading them right now. I hope you all had a great week! I missed you guys. Well, I still do, as I really haven't had contact with anybody since I've been back.

Plans are in the works for a trip to Chicago to see Eisley and Vedera (!) in May. I'm pretty excited about it. I hope everything works out for me to be able to go.

That's all I have.
