Hold me in your arms for just another day...

I promise this one will go slow.

I had a fantastic weekend. Well, I suppose the weekend isn't over, but you know what I mean. My trip to Indy went off w/out a hitch, and my trip to Ft Wayne... well, it had its moments.

The 'service engine soon' light came on in my car while Trav and I were driving around Ft Wayne. It freaked me out, as I've never had that happen before. He was rude about it and basically told me it wasn't a big deal and that he didn't feel sorry for me at all, as he always has car difficulties. Fine, but you don't say crap like that when a person is dealing with a situation like that. It = stupid. So anyway, I got ticked at him and his efforts were LESS than helpful, so I finally resorted to what would've been my FIRST thought and called my parents. They were quite helpful, telling me it probably wasn't anything big and that we'd take care of it later. So that's what I did, and it ended up not being anything, as the light went off again today. So yay for my car not being dead! Although it's making weird bumping noises underneath like it was before the LARGE noises started last time... but hopefully it won't do the same thing again. Although, it really doesn't matter, since I got the last thing fixed for FREE... no harm, no foul.

Aside from the crappiness, we had a pretty good time. Went to Goodwill, where we found NOTHING. Disappointment. Then we went to a record store, where I found MANY things, two of which I purchased. The original soundtrack to the Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band movie (yep, the one w/ the BeeGees and Peter Frampton. :) on vinyl, and the Eagles' "Hotel California" album, also on vinyl. It cost me a total of circa $12. Earlier, my grandpa had given me $20 "gas money," so luckily I had the cash and used it on that. Then we got bored and had the car issue, so we went back to Trav's Mom's to kill time until the movie. She had dinner, so we ended up getting to eat some yummy food. Then we went to see Across the Universe for, I have no idea what time, but we've seen it quite a few. It's totally worth it, and it was only $1, so why not? Amazing movie. Amazing, amazing, amazing. It never gets old.

So then I drove home, horrified that my car would break down in the middle of nowhere... but it didn't, and I made it home safely.

Then Friday I took off for the Indy area and met up with Angie at her place, where I helped her pick out what shoes to wear/etc. and we took some pictures of ourselves and our hottness. See: facebook. Then we headed out after a bit and I picked up Sheryl (who does she think she is, anyway? ;) and we went to the Fountain Diner, one of my favorite places in the world. Not because of the food (although the milkshakes are KILLER), but because of the atmosphere. After a bit, more people showed up and we ate. Mmmm. I introduced Shawn to the hilarious posters AND milkshakes, and in doing so we found out from one of the workers that they're closing and turning the place into a Smokehouse. I have no idea what that means, but I know what it means for my favorite restaurant: it's going bye-bye, along with all of the awesome retro décor that I love so much. Sad day. But at least I know it's coming, right? It'd be worse if I just went there and it wasn't there anymore. I got to savor the moment.

I'll miss it, though. Good memories.

THEN... we went swing dancing. We missed the lessons, so Dave taught us upstairs so we'd have some moves for when we went downstairs. This was mainly for the girls, to be honest, because we're the ones getting asked to dance by random people and thus we need to know what's going on. But Shawn also learned, so he could lead us when he danced w/ us. It was a lot of fun, and then we went downstairs and really we just sat around a lot. Joy got asked to dance a TON, but the rest of us mainly did nothing. It was kinda boring at that point. Then FINALLY we started dancing, with like an hour left. Part of that was that I just decided to start asking our guys to dance instead of waiting for them to ask me. I'm a modern girl, after all, right? I made Shawn dance w/ me to "Sing, Sing, Sing," as it's my favorite swing song. That was probably a "mistake," as we're not that great of dancers and that song is CRAZY fast, but it was HILARIOUS and therefore REALLY fun. We totally couldn't keep up, and we kept screwing up steps and then laughing and screwing up more. So. Funny.

Otherwise, I danced w/ Dave a large number of times, as he's the one that showed us how. I divvied myself up between the two of them, really. Also, that Chris guy asked me one time to dance. So no RANDOM guys, but I didn't really know him. So that was fun enough. And I kept up with most of it. I guess I should, what with 4 years of music training under my belt, eh?

So yay! I've finally gone swing dancing! I still really want to take actual lessons sometime, though, and go sometime when I have a designated partner and I'd like to learn to do the dances better. To REALLY swing dance. So that's the next step. But this first one was a necessary one, so I'm glad we got to do it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANGIE!!!

Now for some friends-only, possibly vague, thought processing. Have a good one.
