Alright, time to play catch-up.
A couple weekends ago, I had an AWESOME time in Indy. Friday, I met up with Sheryl at her apartment for OLD SCHOOL HORROR MOVIE MARATHON NIGHT. It was everything I hoped it would be. She lit candles to set the mood, which really hit their peak during Carrie's candle scenes. Heck yes. We watched Carrie, Children of the Corn, and The Amityville Horror (the original). Did I already write about this? I feel like I did... but I don't remember, so I'm writing about it again. Y'all can just DEAL.
Also, she had bought a bunch of 50% off Halloween candy, so we enjoyed eating some Kit-Kat bars, etc. ("Break me off a piece of that Fancy Feast!")
We also ordered a lovely Domino's pizza. Although, they let us down. It wasn't as good as it usually is. I'm not sure why. Boo, Domino's! How dare you not fulfill all of our deepest pizza-ish desires?
And we tried the oreo pizza, because she had a coupon. It was kinda gross. Oreos should not be placed on pizza crust. End of discussion. I said end!!!
After the movies, she looked up the Amityville Horror stuff online to find out about the true story, and then we went to bed. Got up the next morning, got around, and went to the fashion mall, where we ate Chinese food (mmmmm) and then saw The Darjeeling Limited. Good movie, but I'm not entirely sure about it still. I liked it... but I didn't like it at the same time. Maybe something about the plot just didn't sit well with me... I don't know. Usually I like things like that. Who knows.
After the movie, we went shopping at Target to get some food for Gregor's. We heard a little dancing animal (frog?) singing "Yeah!" by Usher, so when we walked past the display of them we just HAD to play with them. We reverted back a number of years in age and before long we were pushing multiple buttons at once and scampering off, laughing. Ah, to be young... and in... love? ::cough:: Moving on...
We then met up with Angie, who drove us (and Collin) to Gregor's Mom's for the bonfire. All the way there, we mocked Gregor's directions. "Go up a little hill, then you'll go down a hill and back up, and the house is at the top of the little hill." The bonfire itself? It was a GREAT time. We made hot dogs, and s'mores, and Isha, Sarah, Jenn, and I had a Paparazzi War with our cameras, which turned out REALLY BAD for me but really funny for everyone else. (I'm pretty much the least photogenic person to ever live, and it's even worse when a camera is being snapped in your face at the most horrible angles possible.)
I also nuzzled my face into Sheryl's hair, which kind of freaked her out, so that was funny... and other such things. Then Angie was getting tired, so we took off. Got back to Sheryl's, where she and I watched Thumbtanic ("Get your sex change! You can't get on the lifeboats if you're a MAN!") and I laughed hysterically while she repeated this comment: "Wow. Wow."
Then we hit the sack. And by that I certainly don't mean that we slept together. SCANDAL. And actually, she went to bed and I stayed up, talking to people online. Made some plans with some people to see Across the Universe the following day. And by made some plans with some people, I really mean I tried to bribe Gregor to go and left buttloads of threatening messages for Trav. The next day, I got up before Sheryl so I could get out of her way when she needed the shower. Beautified, then we hugged and I said farewell (or some such thing) and got a breakfast bagel at McDonald's (mmmm), and some orange juice (MMMMMM), before going to Best Buy, where I ended up having to sit and wait for them to open. When I finally got to go in, I browsed the music section and ended up buying the Dan In Real Life soundtrack and "We Are The Pipettes" by the Pipettes. Awesome stuff. Then I killed time by driving around. Had lunch at Panera, called Trav and found out he actually WAS going to come, called Christy and found out she wasn't but that she wanted us to come over after. Killed more time sitting in my car at the mall until finally it was time to go in. No sign of Trav OR Gregor (who did eventually agree to come, probably due to my threats of violence, bribery, or whining about going alone). So I kept calling Trav, who didn't answer his phone. Eventually I bought tickets (one for me and one for Trav, as his birthday present) and left one for him at the door. Then I called Gregor, who said he was on his way and to save him a seat. Trav called me and said he was almost there. So I went inside and got a seat, and finally Trav came, and JUST in time for the movie, Gregor showed up.
By the way... Across the Universe is an AMAZING MOVIE. Go see it. If you can. I'm not sure where it's still playing. But it's incredible. The music is BEAUTIFUL, and the visuals are awesome. Yay!!! I'm so glad I got to see it. And with my two favorite guy friends, to boot! Yay!
After the movie, Trav dragged me to J. Crew to shop (Gregor left at that point, thinking we were just going to keep shopping... and it slipped my mind to tell him we were going to Christy's after. Oops. I'm a bad friend.) and then I FINALLY got him out of there so we could call Christy. Did, and she said she was going to make us dinner, so we went to her house. It took us FOREVER to get there. We got lost. But finally we did make it, and she made us SPAGHETTI. Mmmmmmmm!!! I love spaghetti! So when we got there, she was cooking. She set up her laptop and we watched some HYSTERICAL videos on YouTube, and then we (me, Trav, Christy, and Kip) sat down at the dining room table for a dinner party. It was cute. Her mom took a pic of us. Awww. Adorable.
After that, I drove Trav back to his car and then drove the 2 hours home in the dark. Got home around 10 and went straight to bed, as I had to get up at 4am the next day for work. Woohoo.
I've been working early hours a LOT lately. It seems like almost every day that I have to get up at 4, sometimes 3. It also seems like I have to take crazy trips down to Indy a LOT to work, also. But I've tried to turn those into positive experiences by staying after work to hang out with people. So far that's worked out pretty well.
Last weekend, for instance, I got asked to work in West Carmel on Friday. So, I asked people to hang out. Nobody seemed to want to, as nobody responded. So I was kind of depressed/angry. But then I discovered there would be a Wolfy show for free that night, and that it'd be perfect... I could go to that and see everyone! Yay! Then I called Christy, who said she wasn't doing anything, so she let me stay with her AND she came along to the show with me. It ended up being an AWESOMELY fun time. They had games and stuff going on during the show, such as a mechanical bull, wax hand making, caricature drawing, pinatas, etc. The 2nd band, Polydream, was OUTSTANDING. I bought their CD. It's really really good. Then, Christy tried to ride the mechanical bull. She couldn't mount the thing, so she just kept sliding off, clutching on for dear life. It was HILARIOUS. I got pictures on my phone (my camera was dead, so I didn't bring it). They're awesome. So if I ever figure out how to get the pictures, I'll put them on facebook or something. For the benefit of those friends o' mine who have facebook. :)
Then Wolfy played, and they were awesome, as always. Oh, that reminds me... before the show, we met up with Isha who took us to some college dorm-esque place and Wolfy and Josh and Matt were in there. Josh comes straight over to me to give me a hug and say hi, which was cool since he usually hasn't hugged me. Then of course Wolfy came and gave me a famous Wolfy hug. Those are always fun. We talked for a bit, I introduced them to Christy, and other such things. Now, fast-forward.
After Wolfy played, we were standing around and Christy was running and sliding in candy on the floor. It was hilarious. Then we went to play stuff again, and they ended up having a costume contest, so of course Christy jumped at that chance. She ended up smearing black paint ALL over her face and hands. It was SO. FUNNY. I got a lot of pics of that, too. Then, Wolfy (the collective) had to judge it. Isha took her pants off and wore striped tights. Christy ended up winning a gift card to the Olive Garden, which is awesome. It was a great time. Then a magician came in and pulled money out of fruit. Yay for that.
After a bit of us hanging out and talking, we decided to leave, so I gave my goodbye hugs and we drove back to Christy's, where I went straight to bed. (I had been up since 4am, after all... and by now it was 1am. That's a lot of time to be awake.)
The next day, I got up before Christy and got around to leave. Woke her up to say goodbye and went home. Then, on Sunday morning, I worked the cash office and then shoes. Then yesterday, Monday, I went back down to West Carmel to help once more with preparing for the corporate walk-through visit. It sucked this time, because I wasn't doing shoes... but I was doing random stuff that I really don't understand/like. BUT I did put away a cart of young men's clothes, which means I was in the corner of the store with cool music (they have different music playing in some different departments) such as RELIENT K and ROONEY. I was excited. Then after a while, I helped Chico with table towers, which wasn't too bad. We had kind of a good time, methinks.
After work (I got off at 4), I killed time by going to Half Price Books, where I bought some AWESOME stuff, including:
Michael Jackson's Thriller album for like $5 (vinyl)
Carole King's Tapestry album for $.50 (vinyl)
Billy Joel's Glass Houses album for $.50 (vinyl)
Barbra Streisand's Christmas album for $.50 (vinyl)
A BeeGees album (forget which one) for $.50 (vinyl)
A book of pictures of Audrey Hepburn for $4
It was a successful trip, AND enabled me to kill about an hour looking through clearance vinyl bins... and I was a happy Allison. Then I had dinner at Panera, and Gregor called me back and told me I could come over early, so I left for his place. Didn't end up getting there quite so early, because I missed my turn and took the long way to get there. And it was raining, so I was going a bit slower than usual.
THEN... I showed off my purchases (he was SO impressed (sarcasm)) and we watched The Mask (yep, the awesome Jim Carrey movie from the 90s), which was even more HILARIOUS than I remembered. Heck. Yes. Doug came a little bit after it started, and he threw a penny at me. He's so violent. Maybe we should have some sort of intervention. Doug! Violence is not the answer!!
Then the movie was over and Gregor put in an Eddie Izzard (the comedian) DVD, which I was expecting to suck but it was actually REALLY funny. I laughed QUITE a bit. Then I fell asleep. Well, I'm not sure if I really fell asleep, but I know I was pretty much dead to the world except that I was listening to Eddie Izzard's jokes and laughing a tired/babbly laugh for a while. Doug left. I think I heard that. But I wasn't paying attention, so I didn't say goodbye. I just kept laying there on the couch.
That's the good thing about it. While at AU last year, Trav and I would have countless movie nights, where I would go over and stretch out on his roomie's comfy couch and eat Chinese food and watch movies... and it got to be a really good thing. I could just relax. Be myself. Not deal with the stress of my life. Just enjoy spending time with a friend. And it was kind of like that last night, too. Just stretched out on the couch, watching a movie from my childhood, and listening to a comedian. It was different, yes, but for a while I did think about the similarity and how nice it felt to just relax and hang out with a friend/friends.
Of course once I started falling asleep and Gregor started wanting me OUT, that happy feeling wore off and I became a burden and a loser that invites herself over to sleep on the couch. It happens, I guess. I still feel stupid for it. But what option did I have? Really. I was hoping Sheryl or someone would come that I could bum off of, because I feel less awkward bumming off of girls. But no girls came. So I was backed into a corner. Because I knew I'd stay late and be crazy tired, and I knew I needed to stay because I had to pick something up for my aunt in Kokomo today and if I went home last night they would be closed. But I didn't want to invite myself over, ya know? I was hoping for an offer. Something to make me not look so bad. But no offer came (not a big deal, it wasn't something that necessarily SHOULD'VE come, but I was just hoping it would) and I did end up looking really bad. Sorry about that. If I had any other options, KNOW that I wouldn't bum off of people. It's not in my nature to be a bum.
Well, sometimes it is... but not that type of bum. ;)
Woke up this morning, got around, left a post-it note on the counter in the kitchen to say thanks for letting me stay and be a jerk (minus the last part, I do believe) because I didn't want to wake him up to tell him I was leaving, and I was ready to stop being a burden. So I took off, stopped in Kokomo to get the thing for my aunt with no difficulty, and then came home. Got a call from work asking me to go back to the Indy area again tomorrow to work, and I have to be there at 5, so I have to get up at 3. Not looking forward to that... but what can ya do? I guess say no... but that makes you look bad/the people look down on you, so nobody wants THAT.
I'm tired of writing now. I've had lots of good times the past few weeks... and now you're updated. FIN.
