I really don't have the energy to update anymore. Like, ever. But I want to fit this in now, because who knows when the next time will be that I feel at all like updating.
So... about last weekend! I went down to Anderson for homecoming weekend at AU. Met up with Cara, Jill, and Jessie at Cara's apartment, and then we rode together (in my car) to Cheeseburger in Paradise, where we met up with Lori and got some lovely food and some super fun Allison-esque atmosphere (such as a purple sky! how awesome is that?), along with drinks. I got the strawberry pina colada, which was... A-mazing. After stirred, that is. For a while it was kind of... rotten. But after some stirrage I was good to go.
After that, we went back to Anderson and went for a walk around campus to see the illuminaries. (Us being everyone but Lori.) Then we went up to the observatory, which I had never done and was pretty cool. Then we went to Cheap Thrills, which as usual lacked any form of funniness EXCEPT Trav's skit, which was a satire of some video of a Britney Spears fan. Oh, and a line during the stolen-from-SNL Celebrity Jeopardy sketch, when they wagered $Texas. I laughed REALLY hard at that.
Then, we went back to Cara's and hung out for a bit, watching a couple of videos on youtube. Trav and Lorelei came over, and then after a bit Cara was basically telling everyone (aka me, Trav, and Lorelei) to leave, so we left. Lorelei and I followed Trav to his grandparents', and Trav and I stayed up watching Carrie until he was completely exhausted and thus we crashed. I got the couch, Lorelei got the cot, and Trav of course got his bed upstairs. The couch was really comfortable, though, so no big. At all. It actually slept a lot better than the cot (I slept on the cot last time I was there).
The next day, they got around and went to the homecoming fair. I took longer getting ready, and then his grandma made me lunch and I got to meet his dad, who was visiting. That was pretty cool. Got some homemade breakfast food: bacon, eggs over easy, toast. Mmmmm.
Then I left and went to Susan's to hang with her for a few, and we ended up going to CVS so she could buy batteries. Then I met up with Trav and Lorelei to go shopping in Indy. I ended up being conned into driving. Sensing a theme here? I think people forget that I'm paying my own gas money now. And of course NOBODY donated to the cause. At all. Which you know... IS the typical polite thing to do when you force people to drive you around like a chauffeur, but whatever. I'm over it. (Except that I had to get gas 3 times during my 3-day trip.)
After that uber-boring excursion, we came back just in time for me to go to the Jon McLaughlin show with the 3 free tickets I had, since nobody ended up going with me. So yes, I sat alone. It wasn't bad, though. I sat between a nice lady and some young-ish guy (probably high school or early college age). AND I got to choose which ticket to use, aka which one was closest to the stage. So that was pretty cool. Then, afterward, I couldn't get ahold of ANYONE to hang out, and I hadn't eaten dinner and it was like 10:30pm. So I got quite a bit peeved, and went to get my 2nd filling of gas and found out that nobody either could or wanted to hang out with me. So I was like ya know what? Screw friends. I'll make my own fun. So I went to China House and got some lovely take-out, which I proceeded to take back to Trav's grandparents' to eat. Mmmm... soooo good.
On the way back, called Gregor to see if he was wanting to come to the Eisley show with us. He said he probably would, and was leaning toward going. And just having that lame-o conversation in and of itself (not that it was lame-o, I guess, but just not super exciting) got me out of my grumpy mood. And THEN? Lorelei, Trav, and I watched Hocus Pocus. Best Halloween-time movie EVER. So that was pretty darn exciting.
Après, I believe we went to bed. The next day (Sunday), Lorelei left early in the morning and then Trav and I slept til like after noon and then got ready, and Gregor called to tell me he wasn't coming, so we took off a bit early and decided to take a small detour through Oxford to see the Miami campus. So that was pretty cool... a nice little Ohio road trip. I got a little grumpy when he conned me into walking a few blocks with him and I ended up getting all sweaty, but that situation was remedied later and I got back in a good mood again. That is, UNTIL I couldn't figure out where the heck I was going in Cincinnati. I decided I HATE Cincy. Seriously. Whoever came up with the road system is an idiot. Plain and simple. We did eventually find the place, after turning around like 3,000 times.
The show was awesome, although I was a bit disappointed with Eisley, only because they were the opener and thus didn't play as many songs as last time I saw them (that, or they just had more to choose from) and thus didn't play any of my favorite songs of theirs. None. But the ones they did play were great, so there you go. And I forgot the words to "Golly Sandra"!! Who am I?! Travis was singing along, and trying to "share a moment" by singing a song we both knew, and... I had nothing until like the last repetition of the chorus. Ridiculous. I'm ashamed of myself.
MuteMath was awesome, just like last time I saw them, and of course the KILLER light show made it even better for me. I think Trav was about to pass out from all the strobe lights and being dehydrated. Poor guy. But I had a great time! And unlike Eisley, they DID play my favorite song of theirs ("Peculiar People"), so... heck yeah.
After the show, we took off for home. Didn't get lost this time, but when we got close to home we hit this HORRIBLE detour that took us like an hour out of our way. It just kept going and going and going and going. And at first, we couldn't even figure out which road to take, because they had like one sign and then the road forked. So we turned around at least 4 times, and saw a creepy guy on the street, so that was scary. But FINALLY we figured it out and made it. And about the time we were halfway through the detour, "Livin' On a Prayer" came on my iPod on shuffle. "Whoaaaa we're halfway there, WHOA-OH, livin' on a prayer / Take my hand, we'll make it I swear..." hahahahhaa So we sang that loudly and decided that it's our theme song for the trip.
We finally got back, gorged ourselves on food (as we hadn't had dinner), and then went to bed. Trav got up and went to AU in the morning, and I slept in and then took off for home.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it. The Office is about to come on, and I'm staying up past my bedtime for it, so it better be good! (As if it ever could NOT be good. But we'll see if it's GREAT.)
