heh, when I was young I had all these theories that because I *read* so much, I must need to write a novel.
And when I was in college, and starting to find the internet, I found fanfic - and I even wrote some - mostly short stories. Then, right after my final exams in college, when I had graduated, but hadn't yet figured out what was *next* - I wrote a really long story - and it was WORK. It wasn't really fun, it was like I had to sit down and get the scenes out of my head and onto the page, and it took forever to do it right. But I eventually finished it, and although there could have been a sequel, that was about the time when my brother went into the hospital, and I moved home, and things were unsettled for a few months - and I never really got back into it.
Since then, I haven't really found the urge to tell a story. But I do like the occasional writing prompt - I've just found these Writer's Block prompts. I also do like the "30 things about you" and other daily writing prompts - sometimes it's kind of neat to be forced to *think* about something and come up with an answer to a question.
I was the same a couple years ago, thought I had a story to tell. Then life got in the way. I don't know if I have the sticktoitiveness to write. I'm sure I'd either get bored or be too nitpicky and never finish anything.
I still do like the odds and ends, 30 things about you. I found a couple in my archives.
