you're my only One

I stand before You now my Saviour
Shouting Your praise
You've changed my world and made my heart sing
And everything I have
I lay it at Your feet

Everything is different now with You my God
You broke my chains of sin
You're always there to lift me when I fall
You never let me go
Lord I give You my all

Now that I've found You everything around me is changing
Nothing will be the same
Now that You've saved me

I'll be the one to shout Your fame forever
I'll be the one to sing Your praise
My saviour
You are the strength inside of me
You are the light that let's me see
My only One

i love this song! It just makes me want to dance, sing and jump around since it fills me with such joy; and of course all of that shall be done in the privacy of my own room. *grin* Shalt ask Alwin for the chords.

the party last night was just fantastic. Joana has pictures here. It was actually a sending-off party for Nick and Dennis who're going for the exchange programme in the States, but it became a little birthday thing for me as well. Just as well too, since the venue got changed to my place at the last minute and I was like a crazy monkey going up and down from my apartment to the poolside to get everything ready as spontaneously possible.

once I got home from work, I was picking up the mess in my room to give it some semblance of neatness and dusting off/rearranging my figurine collection - which strangely no one commented about, awesome as it is, heheh. I then took a quick shower and cycled out with my hair still in an unruly mess, to find Teresa who got lost when she alighted at the wrong stop. Lydia came by when Teresa was preparing her pasta, bringing two tubs of Haagen Dazs and Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

ian and Joana drove in after getting lost near Laguna Park, bringing a bewildered-but-excited Happy who made a new friend towards the end of the evening. A little later, Dennis bumped into Grace, Joel and Alwin at the entrance into Hua Xin, which Teresa, Lydia and I witnessed to some amusement. We could even hear Alwin's voice all the way from where we were on the fifth floor! That's really something, but hardly surprising as Lydia commented. Haha!!

almost everyone was present by then, leaving only Joni who, curiously, was supposed to be at my place the earliest as she wanted to help with the preparations. Poor girl had to lug Orange, chicken mcnuggets and four bottles of drinks all the way to my place, and was suitably tired out by the time she reached it. I think Joel had to lovingly nurse her back to health.

now that everyone was here, the party kicked off with Singaporean-style ferocity - madcap lunging for food and feeding the gnawing vortexes of stomachs.

the menu:
1) Seafood and sausage fusion pasta laced with mushroom soup gravy; courtesy of Teresa,
2) Green curry with carrots, potatoes and onions; courtesy of Alwin,
3) Stir-fried beef in ginger and onions; courtesy of Joel,
4) Chicken McNuggets; courtesy of Joni,
5) Meat-Lovers & Hawaiian pizza; courtesy of Ian, Joana and moi,
6) Haagen Dazs & Ben&Jerry's ice cream; courtesy of Lydia,

accompanied by an assortment of drinks courtesy of Joni and Chor Yin. Flavoured ice-sticks were brought by Grace but were not frozen in time, unfortunately.. so I have them all to myself hahahaha!!

i was so busy setting up the speakers for Orange (which was subsequently usurped by Al's iPod) that when I finally sat down to eat, I only had some curry, fine slices of ginger and onions, a bit of potatoes and carrots and much pasta. I actually espied some nuggets left but I went to grab a drink and when I got back, they were already gone, much to my chagrin. The hawaiian pizza was also polished off by the time I was done with my first round too! heh. Oh well, as the age-old adage of eating culture in Singapore goes, 'First-come, first-served'. But to be honest I was just glad to see everyone having a good time and seeing their happy smiling faces. :)

after food was everyone having a ball with Grace's retro-themed goodie bags! It was back to our childhood with transforming cassette tapes, propeller aeroplanes, cutesy squeaky toys that frightened Happy, bubble-blowers (which I failed rather miserably at) and primary-school era snacks. Much thanks Grace for the fantastic goodie bags and for all the trouble you went to get them prepared! The people even had a bubble-racing contest on the pool which probably had the neighbours scratching their heads in puzzlement and thinking that pop music and video games have really made the kids nowsadays crazy.

i have to go soon so I have to finish this long post. I'll finish off with some quotes from Dennis:

"This is my first going-away party," he says, sounding rather touched, "And it's the first time I'm going away."
"We're celebrating that you're going away!" Joni chirps.

we bump into my mum as she exits the lift to my floor. Dennis tells her that we're having the party to send him off because he's going on the exchange programme. My mum's really familiar with Dennis since we were pals since primary school. So she says,
"They're having the party because they're glad to see that you're going away!"
