I'm about 2/3 of the way through Choke, and I'm really enjoying it, though I can definitely see where people would criticize Palahniuk's writing style and the type of message that usually shows up in his writing style. I can really see parallels to Oryx and Crake, oddly enough. It's most apparent between the two main characters -- Jimmy and Victor. But I suppose I'll get to that later. Tomorrow, hopefully I plan to finish it then, because I want to read The Idiot before we start The Sound and the Fury in class.

Oh! Saw Zodiac on Sunday. Excellent acting. Great information. The frustration, the bureaucracy, the inexact science, the lack of conclusive proof -- it was all very much spot-on and true to a real murder investigation. I really enjoyed it intellectually. However, I was also painfully bored -- the accuracy, while I was quite able to appreciate it and even enjoy it, didn't do anything to make it terrible watchable. Final grade: very good movie.

Also saw the first five episodes of Firefly and, quite frankly: love. Love neatly packaged into, what -- fourteen episodes? It's glorious. As of now, Mal is the favorite, although I like Simon a lot too, and, for some reason, Kaylee. Jayne amuses me, but not enough for me to like him as a character. This is, of course, subject to change. River's really the only one I don't care for. Just because thus far she's displayed no personality aside from "I IS CRAZY!"

Oh science fiction, how I have missed you ♥

+literature, feelin' like: god it's been a lovely day, +fandom, +films
