So today my brother and his girlfriend dropped by with their new dog, who's pretty much only the best thing ever. She's one of those dogs who're fun without being hyper. She also doesn't bark, or whine, and is really friendly. Anyway, I took some pictures.
Maddie poking her head between Mary's legs.
Jake and Maddie out in the sunroom. Yes, my brother desperately needs to shave.
Another shot, this time with a more pensive mood.
And picking up Maddie, with my lovely parents in the background. No, I don't know what my mom's doing either.
I ... really want a dog now.
Anyway, today I spent doing art and I realized hadn't posted anything here lately, so here's about 18 images.
Lyrics from "Coin-Operated Boy" by the Dresden Dolls. I hate everything about this one.
Lyrics from "Criminal" by Fiona Apple. I tried a new style here, and I hated it. A lot. Ianthe and Nimue.
Lyrics from "Life in a Glass House" by Radiohead. I was generally happy with the line work, but I fucked up the coloring something terrible.
Did this during a concert at Denison. The cellist turned out the best. I can't draw clarinets to save my life.
As promised Kelli's (
stormantia stalker and Jacob's (
lystellion) crappy housemate, Nick.
Adam and Eve in a nutshell. Because no one actually wants to read the Bible.
I've not read Coriolanus but from Kate's description, this is pretty standard fare throughout the entire play.
Olivia and Jules are Jenny's (
soujiokita). She's a damn good writer, and they're kinda adorably dysfunctional together. Once again, a case of liking the line work but really hating the end product. I had intended for there to be more of a background, but I got lazy.
Done to "Eight Easy Steps" by Alanis Morissette, I, once again, attempted a clever arrangement. I'm not quite sure how well it worked. The little faces are Clara-Gloria-Ianthe-Emmeline-Moira-Nimue-Sierra-Gwendolyn in that order.
First in a series of three, and also my favorite, the three prostitutes with lyrics from "Lovely Ladies" from Les Miserables. This is Lydia.
Emmeline.
Finch. I ... like this one the least, but whatever.
"People Like Us" from The Wild Party. I guess I was on a musical kick. Bayard and Nimue. I ... really like the style of this. Looks better in life -- there's no glare.
Lyrics are "All That's Known" from Spring Awakening. It's a collage of some of my old handouts from high school/college painted over with acrylics. I really like the effect, actually, though I guess it's not that "artsy."
More Spring Awakening. This time a watercolor of Ianthe to "Blue Wind." My watercolors don't suck for once! I was proud of that.
Also from Spring Awakening. This should look like the picture that comes before because it's the male part to the duet, "I Don't Do Sadness." Vincent, with his shirt a little shorter than I realized, but it's inked and there's not much I can do about that.
From The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot. The smoke is inspired by the way CLAMP draws it in HOLiC, as much as I'd like to deny I have any attachment to work by CLAMP. I want to do more with this poem, but it's so hard to think of design that does it justice.
Sierra and Vincent to "Bad Boyfriend" by Garbage. The song is so sleezy, and totally them. Also, I would like to mention those tattoos. Yeah, you see them? They took fucking forever to do.
Barring all that, things are decent. I'm seeing Avenue Q again with the honors program, which promises to be pretty awesome. Tomorrow is Easter, which is going to be awkward. The girl in my group for rhetoric is a micro-managing cunt who needs to be shot through the face, but I'm dealing with it. Yes, my entries have been crap lately, but at least this one has pictures, right?
