Ooppps-I was caught!

Having a heart! Now, shush-don't go telling everyone, I don't want to disappoint anyone who might have the wrong impression of me!

WTF are you talking about, crazy woman???

Today I adopted a dog. His name is Paddy and he's a 15 year old Welsh Corgi/Shetland Sheepdog Mix. the story is sad and detailed but I will keep it brief. Basically, in a nutshell Paddy's original owner, Mr. Dorr is an 80-something year old man who unfortunately has to move into a community living situation which, will not allow him to keep his dog. He'd come into the hospital in the beginning of the month with a flier, in hopes that someone would adopt Paddy. If they did not, he would be forced to euthanize him (The local SPCA would not take Paddy because they were full). Well, this month came and has almost went and Mr. Dorr came in yesterday to sign the euthanasia papers. This way, when he dropped him off today he could just go-he didn't want to be there, it was very painful for him.

He came today, at around 8:15. The man was sobbing, repeatedly apologizing to his dog and long-time faithful friend. I don't know what the hell got into me, but I lost it. I watched the old man leave, and I stood there with his dog-and next thing I knew, I was running out the door after him. I asked him if I could keep Paddy for him, and when he got back from his trip he could call me and come visit with Paddy. I told him that even though Paddy wasn't able to live with him, I could keep Paddy alive and he could visit whenever he wished. Of course, this made this mans day. I am hoping so anyway-and it honestly made me feel good too.

Normally, I am extremely apathetic to others. You all know this-but when it comes to animals, I can't bear seeing something like this happen. An otherwise perfectly healthy animal being euthanized because of these circumstances-and it wasn't the old man's fault. So Paddy is here with me, and appears to be quite comfortable in his new digs. We went out and did a little shopping tonight for him. He's a great dog so far!
