Time goes by and my friends depart one by one

I just found out my old friend Travis Addington recently took his own life... which has come as a surprise to all of us. He seemed perfectly fine as I had talked to him not long ago about us both having had split up with our last girlfriends, but feeling that something better would come from it all... watching 30 Rock repeatedly.

I've known him since 1999 where we met at a Software Etc in Norman. He worked there while I was an employee at Hot Topic and I would go into that store on my lunch breaks every day to chat with them all and peruse the games. I would usually end up selling systems and games to customers on my break that ended in the manager there asking me to work for her, so I worked both jobs. Working with Travis made us even closer friends as we started hanging out and watching movies/anime together along with the playing of games together.

This friendship continued on after we both stopped working in the mall and we both moved around the country a few times. We shared many many interests, most of them incredibly nerdy (like D&D)or academic (History), to recommending books to each other (He got me into George RR Martin and China Mieville). This led to us collaborating on a Module for Neverwinter Nights 2. He had created one for the 1st game to much acclaim and interest from BioWare, so for this next one he was going to go more in detail. I was doing all of the concept artwork for it that has us up late trading emails to get these characters down how he wanted them. He was a continual supporter of my art and was throwing praises about how far I've come with it over the years.

We were both gamers and had even played the life sucking WoW together, leading to our first PvP experience on it together.. as a Night Elf Hunter (me) and Rogue (him), we took out the two Orcs we spotted and both got so giddy from it.

We talked about anything and everything.. anytime I had something personal to share I always talked to him. There is probably not another soul out there that I unloaded so much upon that was deeply personal, most people get the small amount I lend them in my self-preserving nature... but never Travis. I told him everything. We didn't agree at times and who does? These differences were always settled and our friendship always continued.

The last time I saw him I had returned Dreamfall to him after he let me borrow it... he pushed Rise of the Nations upon me and told me to check out the steampunk nature of it.

I still have the game.

I want my friend back.

Damn you... damn you so much... I hate that you've made me cry and that I can no longer talk to you.
