...then again I'm the moderator of these comms and I'm very weird so you'll just have to deal.

Werewolves·Howl 10:32 PM 10/23/06 · I swung by Tower Records to take advantage of all the massive sales they're having lately; basically everything is 20% off...currently.
- The collected editions of Ultimate Spidey numbers 13-15, which is funny as I'm really not a fan of the Ultimate version. I guess the appeal was as much the sale as the fact this take on Spidey is very goofy and big with the wisecracks and the actual version has been all sorts of shades of grim lately.
- The collected editions of Astonishing X·Men "Gifted" & "Dangerous". Had read some of the individual issues but missed most of this new take on my favorite team so figured it was worth a nearly blind shot.
- The collected edition of Green Lantern Corps "Recharge" recounting the rebirth of everybody's favorite ring wielding super cops.
- Much as I get on people's cases for buying entire seasons of a particular show...I bought Season 1 & Season 2 of Justice League, plus the first DVD collected 3 episode set of Justice League Unlimted, "Saving the World". Would've bought the Justice League Movie, which chronicles the assault from Thanagar and the betrayal of Hawkgirl but fortunately the guy behind the counter had Season 2 at home and knew it was included with that.
- Just for kicks and because it's one of the most entertaining, and possibly the best, werewolf movie I've seen in some time, I grabbed a DVD of Cursed; not many films where you'll see a humanoid she·wolf flip off a bunch of cops.
All told, I spent a lot but it would've been a Hell of a lot more if I'd not had that discount working for me...which brings me back to why I'm xposting this. For those not in on the news, Tower Records has been bought out and the entire chain is going out of business. So, every single outlet is having going out of business sales. Originally it was the plan that by the end of this month they'd all be closed but they decided to get a little creative. All the smaller ones are shipping all of their stock to the bigger ones, like the one in San Mateo I frequent, so they'll be able to continue selling stuff up until mid to late December.
With any luck.
I got all of this from
niveK who works there. Stands to reason that each week the discount will get larger and larger so you might wanna go check your local Tower Records and see what you can get. While it's true you can wait till everything gets to be dirt cheap...if you wait too long then they might run out of whatever it is you might wanna get.
