[fill] Where a Great, Warm Welcome Will Be Waiting for Me (Part 2/?) anonymous October 3 2012, 19:20:32 UTC
"Come on now, web-head, stop frightening Little Miss Muffet, you won't like her when she's angry," Peter can hear the smirk in Tony's voice but he allows Bruce to check the bump on his head anyway. "Atta boy! Now, in case you were wondering, we're currently at my property in Malibu - that battle got a little hairy towards the end and we thought the whole team could do with a breather before catching the red-eye back to New York. But don't you fret, we'll have you back in time to get your full eight hours of sleep and still make it to school on time. Least we could do, kiddo." There's more clanging and banging sounds as he clambers out of the rest of the armour.

Peter feels a hand clap him on the shoulder as Steve stands and turns to head back upstairs with Tony. "You did well today, Peter. We're proud of you. Let Bruce fix you up and we'll work on rustling up some pizza."

It only takes a few minutes for Bruce to patch up his minor scrapes and bruises and then he's left with Natasha while the doctor goes to make sure the others haven't brought the house down around their ears while left unsupervised. Pete's still feeling a little woozy, but not as out of it as before, even if he's not really up to having a conversation. The Black Widow seems to understand though and they sit in companionable silence while they wait.

He almost starts to nod off at one point, when he feels a hand on his head, ruffling his hair in a awkward, kind of jittery motion. He cracks one eye open to shoot a quick glance her way, but her face is expressionless as ever.

"Good?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Call me ma'am again and I will end you."

"Yes… yeah."

Finally, she offers him one of her rare smiles and Peter grins back without reserve.

The doors to the workshop bangs open again to reveal Tony with an arm full of clothes. "Pick whatever's most comfortable, there's a bathroom right over there that you can change in. After you're done, Natasha will bring you upstairs, got it?"

With a nod, Peter goes to change. He selects a pair of sweatpants that are about the right length, pulling the draw string tight, and an oversized hoodie with Captain America's shield across the front. He chuckles unrepentantly as he throws it on, but the fabric is soft and worn under his finger tips, so he keeps it.

Back in the workshop, Natasha simply raises an elegant eyebrow at his attire and turns to lead the way upstairs.

They're greeted at the top of the stairs by the mountain of pizza boxes overflowing from the coffee table. The remaining members of the team are lounging in varying states of exhaustion around the room, so Peter opts for faceplanting into the nearest couch cushion, snagging a slice of pepperoni on the way down to munch on. He drifts in and out of the conversations happening around him and after the fourth time he almost drifts off only to be startled awake by Clint chucking something at his head, Tony stands up and makes his way over.

"All right, Charlotte's Web, up you get. Bruce says you can sleep, as long as we wake you up periodically to make sure you're doing okay." He tries to grab Peter's shoulder and roll him over but Pete engages the fine scopulae hairs in his hands and feet to cling to the couch.

"Mmtired."

"I know, but you wouldn't you be more comfortable in a nice, cozy bed? Come on, Cap, give me one of your ridiculously muscly hands here."

Peter shrieks when Captain America lifts him by his waist, couch cushion and all. He reluctantly releases the cushion when Cap puts him down and allows Steve and Tony to lead him to the master bedroom.

As he sinks down into the perfectly fluffed pillows, a thought occurs to him. "Are you sure this is all right, Tony? I wouldn't want to put you out of a bed-"

"Nah, don't sweat it. Us adult Avengers are going to camp out in the living room tonight - I think I heard Clint and Thor scheming about building a fort. Don't worry about us. Rest up, you're going to need tomorrow it if you want to be able to deal with the sheer mind fuckery of a norse god in a blanket fort and get out of here with your sanity intact."

It's-It's soooooooo cute!! I love it!!!

Peter is perfect! I love the banter and that you have him interacting with every Avenger. You show what kind of relationship each one has with him. It's like a big super hero family!! Peter sticking to the couch cushions is hilarious and totally something he would do!!

This is perfect!!!!! *HUUGLES*

P.S. THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!!!!!! XD

Author!anon here - Thanks for you lovely comment, I'm glad you're enjoying it :)

In the end, I kind of passed out from exhaustion this afternoon, after pulling an all-nighter, and ended up not getting a chance to write until now. But I'm working on it and should have a few more parts up before I head off to bed in a couple hours!
