A whole new world...

I am slowly settling in at Summanulla, hacking out a bit of space for myself physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually... I still occasionally think, "When I get home I'll..." and then stop myself because ( OMG I LIVE HERE NOW )

baking, summanulla, such a dork, awesome boy is awesome, moving

Yeah, a sourdough starter is like a pet. You can't ignore it. After it's established you can keep it in the fridge, but you must take it out and feed it once a week, and that means baking. I've never done a grape starter before, so this is gonna be fun. For a very specific meaning of "fun".

I still feel I can only relax when I'm the only person in the house, which rarely happens.

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. *cheers*

This has seriously been the hardest part of not living alone. I find that I am unwilling to have (the fun/social sort of) phone conversations if I am not the only one in the house, so, erm, I have not had any phone conversations in a month or more. The resulting sense of isolation (the unfun, not-a-synonym-of-solitude kind) and boredom is Not Good.

All my sympathies, and best of luck with the hanging onto the cooking things! (I've done the same so far!)

I lived in community once (at one time 8 people in a 2-unit apartment, 9 when my son was up for the summer). We learned about meta-communication and boundaries and co-living skills. This didn't always work, and I NEEDED my Cave Time, but now that it is just my husband and my son, we do pretty well. *HUG* Best of fortune to you, dear.
