Dear Fanfic Writers:

People in the 1920s didn't call women "Ms." Nor did they go outside if they wanted to smoke a cigarette. Certainly your host would not ASK you to do so; in fact, they'd probably have a lovely humidor box filled with cigarettes and would offer you one as they offered you a cocktail.
