39 + 1 Thinkies about "Children of Earth: Day Three"

Jul 08, 2009 22:11

Holy crap, we're on Day Three already. The mind boggles. I haven't been online at all today -- no e-mail, no LJ, no Twitter -- because I dunno about you kids, but I'm suffering a bit of overload. Maintaining and sharing the level of squee suitable to the occasion has been almost physically exhausting. And that's just the fandom! I've barely ( Read more... )

We all know that Jack has a thing for other versions of himself. So, instant canon. Snaxcident needs a sex-with-myself tag.

I am, yes, writing contact lens porn. Seriously. XD Also, "Mary Sangster" has my birthday. She's exacto 40 years older than me. I should screencap those canon backstory bits but I can't be bothered right now. I made an icon instead.

(pogrebin and me talked in her(?) reaction post about the Jack/Ianto conversation being lovely, but the immortality part of it should have happened, say, after Meat. It's the Asylum/Adrift disease where they address things far, far later in the series than they ought to.)

Well... Jack didn't know about the "fixed point in time and space" thing until after he'd seen the Doctor, so this exact conversation couldn't have taken place in Season 1. But yeah, you'd think they'd have had this subject out already. *shrug* Why is it that official writers are always so far behind the fans?

Yeah that's why I place it after Meat - it's also unclear whether Ianto knows he can't die before Owen shoots him in EoD. But in season two he definitely does, and Meat he has a brush with death and the subject would be on his mind, so to me it seems like a perfect time for them to have that conversation.

(had a rabbit lying on my leg there for a bit, couldn't get up to reply :P)

I dunno. Yes, Ianto knows that Jack keeps not dying, but it's not the same thing as knowing that he won't die ever. And it's clearly not something he's comfortable discussing. And he's just such a boy - perfect time to discuss something does not mean discussion will be held if it's easier to just... not.

Bad show! That's like... Myfanwy's name is Myfanwy, tho they've never actually use it in the show. I don't think that's fair. You're not supposed to have to Read The Fuckin' Manual in order to get this information.

The black car's a Porsche Boxter, probably 2006/2007 and it's John Barrowman's. The nifty little blue number he had in the first episode is Owen's car in series 1.

LOL HE STOLE OWEN'S CAR. I lol.

I'm not sure whether or not to credit the writers for him both times choosing a convertible. After two thousand years buried underground it makes sense for him to want cars with no rooves, but I don't know if it was deliberate or a coincidence.
