This was nearly exactly my reaction to the episode. When Rhys was shouting at the kids in the crosswalk I actually shouted "HI RHYS!" *facepalm*

Though, Ianto? Or RTD? Or whoever is responsible for the, "It's not men, it's just him?" Yeah, slash fandom has been trying that for 40 years. Still doesn't work.

Also, your "Eeeewww.... something NASTY?" I think the bloody, burned body with the really nice teeth is probably Jack gasping his way back to life.

Yes. Really. I don't know what I expected, but this was much more, much... better, I suppose. Much more realistic and full of implications and a world of background between them.
