Girly stuff & computer stuff -- 2 great tastes that taste great together!
1) Got my period this morning. 70 day cycle. Personal best! Woo hoo! [/sarcasm] Browsing online shopping sites is especially unproductive under the influence of hormones, Spider. You can't afford it and it'll just make you mope.
2) This Linux/Ubuntu stuff is NOT a snap, no matter how many geeks try to convince you otherwise. :) I'm still figuring a lot of things out. But it's not horribly difficult either; it's just new, and I have faith in my intelligence and adaptive ability.
One sad thing, my portable USB hard drive is not getting along with loaner laptop at all. The drive starts making strange noises and I get error messages about (paraphrased) too much current or something and it won't mount. I don't want to blow something up or burn out the drive or anything, so w'ever, I won't use it. I think if I can manage to crank up the zombie long enough to put some necessary things on a thumb drive, I'll be able to access them on this laptop. But it also means I still don't have access to my video library! Woe! and Alas! The other thing is, this laptop only has 256 RAM, so it's kind of functioning as a "netbook" at the moment. I run email and firefox and that's about it. I think in a few weeks I can spring to upgrade the memory to 1GB, which is as high as it will go. I'll consider that part of my pay-it-forward, so when I pass the loaner along the next recipient will benefit too. The loaner's name is "Traveler", which I consider appropriate. :)
