Because a vision softly creeping, left it's seeds while I was sleeping, and the vission and voices still remain, nothings sane when you listen, to the sounds of silence.
So here I sit at the lonely front desk, and it saddens me greatly. This is the most misserable part of the entire office. Not only do I have pretty much nothing to do except answer calls and call in messengers, but I also get asked to do the other duties of my job, such as fixing computer and other lame things which normally wouldn't be so lame if I wasn't also stationed at the front desk.
My weekend was a filled one, for the most part. Friday night, shabbat was a small group of us, but it seemed to work well in my office. I think with better planning it would be much better here with more people, espcially since the room is designed for more people. So we'll have to work on that again for another shabbat sometime in the not to distant future. Then the six of us who were at the shabbat dinner split two cabs down to the upper/lower east side for Elina's house warming which was a drunk time for all. I will never understand why people will spend so much for an apartment, just so they can be in manhattan. I'd rather save the money on an apartment and commute into the city, and then used that saved money to actually enjoy manhattan. But I guess that's where upbringing and priorities set in.
After a night of drinking, I put myself to bed by 2am, just in time to get 4 hours of sleep before leaving for DC. I set my alarm for 6:30, shut it off at 6:30 and then woke up at 7:30, giving me a half hour to pack, shower and leave my apartment, and another half hour to travel to the upper east side (it could have taken just as long if I still lived on the UWS, so mweh ::sticks out tounge in mocking fassion::). Since it was only one night, packing was obviously easy, and showering gets easier every day, so I was able to make it out on time, however, the subway didn't seem to agree with my schedule and took a little longer then expected to get going. We picked up the car, a quite dirty 2006 Chevy Malibu, and took off for southern pastures. The drive down wasn't so bad, Todd did all of it, and it was quite amuzing to watch him yell at how bad the other drivers were from Maryland and Viginia. I never noticed it before, being crappy myself I just sort of blended in, but Todd is quite an asstute driver, so it made quite a difference in the surroundings. We got down in decent time (3-day weekend traffic being sparse) and got to taryn's apartment at around 2pm (left NYC around 9am). We went out to lunch, at the only restaurant I have been to in that neighborhood, which I found amuzing. On the way we passed by a McDonalds, and out of it pops two women dressed in elborate Princess costumes as if it was totally normal that they were dressed that way. Then we started seeing people in costumes all over the place. It turns out that there was an Anime convention going on in the hotel in the neightborhood. I then became a running joke of my "expertise" of some of the costumes (even though I am not a real fan of anime, most of my experience with it being in college while stoned, I do watch a lot of TV and cartoon network), as well as my interest in going, having never been to such a convention before. Then we chilled in Taryns apartment for a while and broke in the hooka I bought for Brad in Israel which had been sitting in my room until that day. Eventually it was time to head over to Robyn's for prepartying and some Hour d'Vours de Robyn. Once we got all that into our system, we headed out to a little bar for further celebrating. I have got to say, I am so not into trendy night spots, espcially small crowded ones where you can barely hear or see anyone except for the crappy house music. So that part of the trip was no highlight. Then we eventually went back to Taryn's for sleep, where I found out that aparently my snoring is as bad as ever, if not worse. If I had enough money I would totally get septum surgury, because snoring is not something anyone should have to deal with. The next morning we woke up early (half by choice, half by just being awake) and went "sight seeing" in DC, didn't really see too much, but it was a nice-ish day out, so things weren't too bad. Then we went to Brunch at the restaurant where Robyn works, where all the food was excellent (as expected) and the pirces, although big on the menu, were quite small on the check (it came out to be only 20 dollars a person including tax and tip). Then right from the restaurant we drove home and returned the car, and after all the "extra" miles and gas and insurance, the trip only ended up costing $35 a person ($140 total), for the entire weekend. Quite an amazing deal. I definaltely want to take as many road trips as possible to take full advantage of my brother's discount while I still can. Who is in?
Then once I got home, the rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. I didn't make it home intime to see the UCB, but Dave told me it was worth going to see again, so we will at some point. Then I spent Monday going to the gym and working on
C-M U which has ben having a pretty good run with my Israeli trip storyline so far. More popular then any of my previous things. PLus I am having a lot of fun drawing myself and interpreting people from the trip. So go read it if you haven't.
Works sucks, I can't wait to go to school, get qualified and get out.
