Hudson shifted his weight in the chair, listening to it creak ominously under his weight. The room still smelled like rotten eggs, and he didn't want to be there, but it was... kind of an emergency

That damn lawyer was in a big damn rush, having used his lunch break to inspect Midtown. Which meant - since he'd just finished teleporting - that sulfuric smell would be even stronger when Reilly entered the room, slipping on his jacket and offering Hudson an apologetic smile.
"Sorry. I had... kind of... an emergency myself. I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long?"
Hudson grunted, wrinkling his nose at the smell wafting from the lawyer. He would have brought up the stench, but now was not the time to go doing things that might piss the lawyer off.
"Yeah." Hudson leaned forward a little, his hands dangling between his knees. "Seems like this might be your kinda thing anyhow. She's just a kid with a temper who did something stupid."
Hudson cleared his throat, trying to get the worst of the rotten egg smell out. "Her name's Mississippi Rivers, and she got into a fight last night with some Friend of Humanity bastards or whatever the hell they're calling themselves now. She's... she just a kid. Nineteen. She doesn't need to have assault on her record."
He looked up, meeting Reilly's eyes squarely. "Also, you don't tell her I hired you."
Reilly pulls back a bit. Force of habit - it's not like his eyes about to get glowy or anything, but he's not good at looking people right in the eyes. Still, he tries. "Okay. I don't tell her you hired me."
Then immediately he turns around and starts looking for something. "Hold on a second, I'm going to need to start taking notes-- Mississippi Rivers, Friends of Humanity, potential assualt... does she have a history?"
"Eeeh..." Hudson's eyes drifted up the the ceiling. "Juvinile record. All sealed, though, least it should be." A fond smile tugged at his lips in spite of himself. "Ain't never lost a fight, but the kid needs to pick a new crusade before she gets herself in trouble. Again," he added with a snort. "She don't like bigots."
"I can understand that," Reilly says with a small smile, writing down 'juvenile record'. Just because it should be sealed doesn't mean it is, and he'll be sure to check. "How exactly did this happen? Did see go after those Huamnity Whackos or seek them out?"
"Okay," he mumbles, chewing on his pen as he looks over his head. "I'm going to need some contact information of co-- wait. How do you- who would I be defending here?"
"I don't like telling people about my family. It keeps 'em safer that way."
At least the lawyer hadn't tried to make any Rivers jokes. Or maybe he just hadn't made the connection yet, which made Hudson wonder about the man's powers of perception.
"Well, I was going to say, who names their kid Mississippi Rivers, that's like asking for a stabbing on your eighteenth birthday, but I--"
He bites his lip. Yeah, Reilly hasn't forgotten Saberclaws has, er, claws. "-- am going to shut up now. Anyway! Keeping your family safe, yeah. I can sympathise with that. I don't have a lot of family myself, but..." he shrugs.
"There's a reason why I changed my name," Hudson said dryly. "I love my Momma, but she ain't got much've a sense of humor." He smiled. Sort of. It wasn't an agressive barring of teeth, but it wasn't exactly friendly either. "My family means the world to me, and I expect you to do your damndest for Missy."

Hell, there's no point.
"She's my little sister."

There's an odd expression that comes over Reilly's face before he starts taking notes again. Sympathy? "You should've told me that from the start."
