Vassar Parents Weekend

Oct 02, 2005 15:22

My parents and my brother came to visit me this weekend and just left a little while ago. It was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. There has just been so many things going on in my life, here and back home, that I really needed to talk to them about.

Some things I feel better about, some things I don't.

On Friday night, I called them up after a jazz concert and we went out for dessert at a diner in town. They all liked my new haircut, my mom said it looked "cute." My family went with my back to my dorm to check out how my room now looked. We found that there was a party happening on my floor, beer and everything. Needless to say, it was awkward.

Saturday, I had a late breakfast/lunch with the parents and Jay, then we were off looking at the sights on campus. It was so great to see my brother again and talk about everything. He eventually wound up hurting his ankle really bad; he literally could not walk. As the day went on, he gradually felt better and we were off to the Arlington street fair. We finished up the evening with a concert on campus.

Sunday, I met up with my family for brunch at the ACDC. Then on to more wandering and the art gallery.

I was so sad to see them leave again, but I will see them and everybody when I come home to visit in 2 weeks. My mom tried to give me advice on my problems/issues/concerns, but she made it apparent that she didn't quite understand. My dad and brother were more helpful, but there are just somethings that I have to solve on my own.
