Baaaaaaaaaad hair colour experience

So........... I wanted to lighten up the super darkness of my hair and i tried a new product - this one in "cool brown", specifically - used to lighten darker hair by L'Oreal Feria. I chose it to AVOID bleaching all my hair. Bad move. My roots are now yellow-blond, the hair is lightened to a reddish something, and my purple streaks are a crummy grey. I am so unimpressed.
