Fic: Tres magníficas mujeres

[A little fluff, following the Party of Many Emotions. Rikki used with permission, Kate is an NPC at the moment.]

"I just want to be clear. I'm not gay." Kate was hovering over the couch, half sitting and half standing.

Anya raised her eyebrows, as though Kate had just offered to prance around on the ceiling. "Okay. Me neither. Rikki, are you?"

"Uh, kinda?" Rikki shrugged and went into the kitchen to get water. Anya might not be as drunk as she was putting on, but water would be a good thing.

"Works for me."

Kate sighed and finally sat down. "I have no idea why I'm here."

"Uh, because Clint is an ass and totally left the party with his ex-wife? And you're secretly afraid Jess Drew is too much woman for you. Which is sorta valid. She's hot." This was all said matter-of-factly as Anya kicked off her boots and tucked her legs up under her.

Rikki sighed and tossed a bottle of water at her girlfriend. "Anya!"

"What? It's the accent."

"Yeah, definitely the accent, but I don't think that's the point." She came out of the kitchen and handed a bottle to Kate.

"What's the point, amante?"

"Uh. Kate isn't gay?"

"That's okay. Were we going to sleep with her?"

The woman in question waved her hands around. "Still here!"

Anya shrugged. "Sorry. But I don't think we were."

"Here?" Rikki sat on the couch between Anya and Kate, and pulled Anya's legs onto her lap.

"Going to sleep with her."

"I never know with you."

"Hey, kinda offensive. I'm in a monogamous relationship with you, you know." Kate honestly couldn't tell if Anya was really offended or not.

Neither could Rikki, for that matter. "Okay."

Kate gaped. "Seriously? Are you two seriously about to have this fight? Why did you invite me here?"

"Because it sucks to leave something like that alone." Rikki answered. Anya nodded. "Why'd you say yes?"

"I... don't know. Because it sucks to leave something like that alone?" She threw her hands up. This was all so ridiculous. "Because you guys seem sort of cool and we never really hung out before."

"And because there are worse beds to end up in?" Rikki asked.

"Like Clint's." Anya added.

"Ugh, do you two ever stop?"

Anya smiled. "No, it's part of our charm as duo."

"Yeah, I'm really charmed. Can I be serious for a minute?" Rikki and Anya shared a quick look before nodding in unison. Kate rolled her eyes and continued. "People think I'm dumb. Or being taken advantage of. But I'm not. I'm not saying he's the greatest guy in the world, but I'm making my own decisions. I go home with who I want to go home with."

"Like us?" They asked in unison.

Kate sighed, but she was smiling. "Yep. Just like you."
