Fandom Appreciation Challenge 2011 - Day 7
Write a love letter -- to your flist or circle, to your fandom, to a specific person on your flist or circle, to LJ or DW at large, to the creators of your show or the characters, to whomever. Basically, share the love.

As it's that time of year again...

A love letter to Con joy~

Oh, SakuraCon, how can I describe your pink sakura blossomed glory?

The divine cosplay. The over-sized props. The fantastic displays of creativity. The few and the proud who know the sins of raw edges and poor fabric. The people who rise above mere stitchery to In Character performances.

The panels with information you never thought to think that you might need to know. The events that are meant to inspire - and do so. The 1am showing of obscure fanvids and fansubs that bring like-minded fans together in celebration.

The dealer's room were capitalism and geekdom come together in a beautiful unity of goodies and porn. And, for one brief moment, you can get a glimpse of all the amazing goodies that before you could only see through an internet window.

Then, finally, the unity of otakudom without boundaries for what fandom you may aspire to. The sense of camaraderie. Where a fangirl can wander half-heartedly into a fanfiction panel out of lack of better things to do and curiosity and come out so inspired to write that she immediately comes home with a thirst for fic after years of silence.

These are the reasons I love SakuraCon. And these are the reasons I go and will continue to go for as many more years as I am able. Praised be the staff, volunteers, and all the other awesome people who help make SakuraCon possible.
(( And that makes all 7 Days of Appreciation. W00t!
I shall now actually go get ready so I can do birthday stuff today~~ ♥♥♥))
