I had an okay day today. It started off shitty at work, but right now it's a pretty good day overall. I think making progress in packing my stuff and chatting with friends online and Gabs has made my day better.
I was pretty annoyed at work today. I was very motivated to go in and do double the amount of work to make up for my missing Monday. I had all my work in front of me and a plan of attack. I realize that my plan of attack was putting a non priority bit of work as my first task of the day, but you have to understand in my mindset I was going to get that done and the other stuff in my plan. I know what kind of work I'm capable of and if I have it mapped out and planned and nobody fucks with that flow then I more often than not can achieve those goals. So I think that is what bugged me most, getting fucked with. It's not enjoyable when you are asked "What are you working on?" at different moments throughout your day. Basically that's saying "What can I make you do instead of what you're doing?" and that's annoying. Either make me your bitch and tell me what to do, or shut the fuck up and let me do my job. I know what I'm doing. I think that's the basic principal behind my annoyance today.
I was also blamed for something that I was not in anyway responsible for. I'm going to explain this only because I am so right about it and I want to get it out of my mind. It might be hard to follow, but whatever. So, there are contracts that I type up and prepare for our subcontractors. In this case we are working with an electrician. A few weeks back we had to revise a "scope of work" for some low voltage work this electrician would be doing on a house of ours, or several units. I was given a sheet with some handwritten notes on it and promptly made those changes. There was one thing on this sheet that spoke about placing the media control panel in the master closet. My boss was unsure that they should go in the master closets. She asked me to call the superintendent. I did. He said he'd talk to her when he came in to the office next. I printed out my document with the "Media Panel" section circled as in saying "this is the only item in question" but everything else was good to go. So the guy comes in and meets with my boss, who now has the "scope of work" document in her posession. I heard them talking about some of it, and I never heard about it again. I was never asked to follow up with my boss about it, or to ask the Super if anything was resolved on that issue. The way things go in this office is that I am told to do this contract, do that contract and when done preparing them I am responsible for tracking them, following up on them and so on, but before actually preparing the contracts I have never had any instruction in following up with my boss about anything because many subcontractors go on "hold" status and I rarely know what the fuck the deal is anyway.
So, today she gives me the sheet of handwritten changes to do. I go into the folder on the network and see the document I made awhile back. I'm like "hmm, I recall doing this one already." And then I notice the square around the "media panel" and turn around and talk to my boss about it. "Hey I think we did this already awhile back and you and Vic(the super) were going to figure out what to do on this." I of course only asked her after calling Vic to see what the deal was. She got all pissy and without even knowing it was done before said something like "You guys need to follow up on this stuff." So that kind of annoyed me, since I had no knowledge that I would be the one on point for this. I said something like "well just so you know, I did all the work on that I knew to do and gave it to you and you met with Vic and I was waiting to be told what to do on that. It's not like I had an action item on my end to do or follow up on." To that she went on about how she can't keep track of stuff for you guys. And then she mumbled about some bullshit and I said "you got it!" like a fucking robot and turned around and all I could think was "cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt."
lol, I know it's not such a big deal, but things like that bug me. She is constantly forgetful and I am always having to defend myself because she doesn't know what the fuck she is talking about. Today she also blamed me for being the person that stapled some shit together incorrectly and filed it wrong and didn't fax it correctly. Which I had 100% no part in. I said that and then she did a blanket "well it needs to be fixed by you guys" statement to cover her from being completely dildoheaded. So for the next hour I had to go through and search for these documents in files that were wrong and do a complete audit of the backcharge changeorders that are pending. Which according to my 1-5 of importance list she provided me today was 4th residing just above the filing I wanted to do when I came to work this morning. Fucking bitchface.
I do notice that when I'm in a bad mood and people are within earshot I tend to be much more productive on the phone and in dealing with business matters. Like, I don't rude so much as I become super assertive and sharp. It's almost like my defense mechanisms are on high alert and I'm one step ahead of whomever I'm speaking with. I made some calls about this rebate program we are supposed to be enrolled in and also made some calls about some mailboxes we need to have ordered. I got nowhere really on the rebate shit, but will send off a list in the morning for the mailboxes to be quoted.
The only stuff I have left to pack:
Dishes
Clothes
Computer
Food bits
Bathroom Stuff
Bedding
I will keep my computer with me here in Reno, along with my vaccum cleaner, some clothes, bedding and that's about it.
I think I may just rock my sleepingbag, but I'm trying to figure that out. I need to go buy some garbage bags for my blankets and stuff.
I'm glad that I went to the bank at lunch today and did what I did because it turns out that like an hour after I did that Carmax hit my account for my car payment. I would have been fucked hardcore. That worked out perfectly. I love it when that happens.
I really didn't eliminate too much stuff from my storage bins, but I did throw away a good amount of trash around the house and got rid of some lingering electronic items I don't need, such as a printer, mouse and some speakers. My clothes were gone from the laundry room just a few short hours after I put them there. I bet one person took them all. My shoes are still there though. My old Kenneth Cole dress shoes. Those are pricey shoes, but too small for me now.
I need to pack my Tivo, but won't do that until I know my tv is leaving this place, since I run it through there and such. I haven't cancelled my Tivo service yet. I need to cancel that and my phone/dsl service. That's about it as far as cancelling things.
I think I'm going to tell my apartment complex this week that I'm leaving next Thursday, tomorrow. They want a 30 day notice, but I'm breaking the lease anyway and dont' really give a fuck at this point. I'm more worried about scheduling my walk through in a timely manner. I'll be ready to do that by Monday night since this place will be cleaned up and done I'm sure by the time I leave for the Bay Friday.
I relisted all the stuff I'm selling on craigslist, hopefully I'll get some hits. I have this futon I really want to sell. I think it's a good price for $150, but maybe I should lower it to $100. I think I just might.
I have recently gotten back into Wil Wheaton's blog. He's been blogging really well lately. No World Poker Tour bullshit and some pretty interesting rants and stories from what is going on in his life. Most recently he told a story about how his mom has been slowly rationing some items to him that she recovered from a trash can when he was younger and threw a fit that led to them being thrown away. Some of the items are really cool Star Trek memorabilia that he'd probably be upset about not having had his mom not had such foresight.
I'm excited about integrating my stuff with Gabby's stuff. Like for instance my microwave and then our dueling knive sets and some of our dishes and cooking stuff. Luckily I don't have many decorative items like pictures and such and have no real fantasies of decorating aside from maybe hanging some nice pictures I've taken. I'm pretty happy with all of the pictures and photos and art that she owns and look forward to helping her hang them all at the new place.
Wow, it's like midnight... Okay, I'm going to bed.
