We ARE planning it together. I think that part and figuring out where the money will come from to pay for it is the only stress I have. We will be super simple. In my mind it's pretty much just a party with a quick ceremony in the beginning. We'll be doing a bbq hopefully, kegs of beer and wine. Thankfully a lot of stuff is provided by our location, we will have to do flowers and that sort of thing. I'm planning to do the cake in cake pop format, so I'm looking forward to that. I have a year to get it right. And my first batch was so damn good I think I'll be fine. We have a few friends that may be able to provide some services, so that has eased a lot of the pressure too.
I think Slinky has been a big help in event planning and also that one year I spent djing at weddings has helped me know how things run, anticipate the problems that may occur down the road. When I was djing I wound up event coordinating a lot.
The biggest hurdle was that location. Because they are not at all cheap. This one was regular priced cheaper than anything in the SF area and we managed to work it at 50% off. Thank god for my brother's networking skills.
