In KL - day 1 - very tired

Well, it's been ages since I've updated and well... not much point in trying to fill you in.

Needless to say, NCYC happened. Expo went well enough that no-one filed a lawsuit against us so all is well :P

Today I am in Malaysia! :)
A few weeks ago Paul and I planned a last minute trip to make the most of our holidays. We were originally going to go down south somewhere but after doing a bit ofreaearch we foundthat we could get to somewhere overseas within budget. So off we went to the travel agent and booked our tickets and here we are in malaysia! :)

We flew out of perth last night at 2am (euch!) and arrived in KL this morning at 6:30am (1 hr difference cos of daylight savings) I managed to get a bit of sleep on the plane - a few hours anyway. It was good - Paul and I were the only 2 ppl inthe middle seats of our row so we had two seats each and stretched out.

We had a van transfer to our hotel- the driver was cool. In the hour drive he told us all of the normal stats of KL (population, religions, language etc) but also where to shop (malaysian prices vs american prices and what prices to bargain down tofor taxis and handbags :P) most cool

at the hotel (dorsett - 4 star) we checked in but our room wasn't ready so we checked out the pool (nice view, small pool but still good) and tried to get on the net wihout much success. we finally got our room on the non smoking floor (26th floor - nice view) and unpacked a bit. then it was off to FOOD!

We eneded up going to a little cafe thing and had noodle soup for breakfast for 15 ringitt for both of us ($6) very yum. we looked around the malls (the ones suggested by our driver) and bought some cheap stuff - sunnies for paul, wallet for me, sim cards for both of us. half the shops were closed for chinese new year - it's the second day of it today. good thing we're coming back in a week. then it was off to the hotel to sleep for a bit

we're now out again (but still very tired) to look around some more. while walking down the road we heard drums for chinese new year and went to checdk it out. two "dragons" were coming up the esculators withtheir entourage of drummers. I got some good photos. both dragons came and bit me :P

we're now in chinatown to go on the internet(hence the update. paul needed to sign up for uni lectures and tutorials that came out today and i wanted to contact my friend happy who lives over here. done that so I'm filling time) and to check out the bargains in the markets and see what else is happening for chinese new year.

wish us luck :) we have a hal day tour of the city tomorrow morning and then we're on our own until kota kinabalu in two days time :)

love and hugs :)
