wonderful day today. hannah called this morning, we talked for a while, and she decided to come visit for the day. so, i got up, ran a couple errands, came home and waited. hannah showed up, we hung around for a bit, and then went to whole foods to eat. split a grilled sandwich (omg.so.effin.good), some salmon, some kale and a mint chocolate chip milkshake. i'm going to miss that place. when we left, the sky was so beautiful, hannah suggested that we go find somewhere to just stare at it. we sort of drove for a bit, trying to figure out a good place. boone really spoils you for vantage points to watch the beautiful sky. we ended up heading towards jordan lake. found a spot, took a trail, and it ended up looking like it would just be woods forever. we turned back, and as we were getting to the parking area, there was a guy there who showed us to the map and told us about an observation deck. we took the trail, found the nice little deck, and stood around for a bit. we had dipped our feet in the water, and it was really hot out. that water was so nice, i just thought, man, i'd like to go swimming. so, i walked over to the shore, took my clothes off, and got in the water. hannah joined me. it was wonderful. the water was perfection, the sky was beautiful (despite my limited ability to see it without my glasses... derb), and we had a great time. of course, a couple showed up and sat down to have their dinner on the observation deck. so, we kept ourselves underwater until they left, which they took their sweet time doing, the water was getting really cold. i won't bother you all with the details of the following couple hours, especially since i still have to pack, suffice to say that it was just a lovely day overall. one of the best i've had in a while. i realized, i've never really been skinny dipping before. i suppose, stereotypically, it's done at night? fuck that. despite the fact that it wasn't all that secluded, so what, it was a great spot for swimming. definitely something we'll be doing again. what a lovely day. and of course hannah's message to tell me she got home all right was wonderful and amusing as always. "i'm missing you already. it really sucks." that girl knows how to make me smile.
so, i'm off to europe tomorrow. i'll try and post and keep up and everything while i'm there. email me your addresses or something, i'll send postcards. or try, at least.
