OH GOD the idea that Eleven's delicate sensibilities need to be sheltered and you shouldn't "let him see the damages" or "let him see you age" because it might throw him into a tantrum was WHACK. And what was even more whack for me was that River's freak-out in this episode was not because her parents were dyign or because her husband left her to break her own wrist or anything, but because HE WAS ACTUALLY BEING NICE AND CONCERNED FOR HER WELL-BEING?????????? ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!! River holy fuck this is like the first time I've bought that he's concerned for you and you flip out for no reason! "HOW DARE YOU USE YOUR REGENERATION ENERGY (THAT YOU HAVE I GUESS FOR SOME REASON EVEN WHEN YOU'RE NOT REGENERATING OR INJURED) TO HEAL MY WRIST EVEN THOUGH I USED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY REGENERATIONS TO SAVE YOU YOU EMBARSS ME, ISN'T IT BEAUTIFUL HOW WE EMBARRASS EACH OTHER. IT'S CALLED MARRIAGE

IKR?? They embarrass each other so I guess they're even. And Eleven's douche card can be redeemed for a free act of douchiness, since he left his wife to break her own wrist from the grip of a murderous Weeping Angel. God I feel sorry for the Eleven/River shippers. I was legit touched by him using his energy on her, and she slaps him?? And she basically gives no fucks about her parents. River really really needs a Sassy Gay Jack.
I am almost invested enough to look up some fix-it fic for her, or anything retconning her shitty storyline.
For Amy and Rory, it definitely wasn't as bad as it could have been. At least they're mostly past the Depression and can get comfortably rich using the stock market, so I wouldn't say they're worse off. I am sad to think of Brian waiting for them to come home. Fuck Moffat and his unwillingness to include any kind of emotional continuity.
Yeah I thought it was sweet of him to (magically and inexplicably) heal her like that and for the first time from Eleven I got the impression he liked River a lot? AND THEN SHE WAS CRAZY. So like, I don't know when these two find time to just enjoy each other's company because one of them is always busy hating the other person for some slight, be it imagined or real.
Well, I think Amy will be very limited in terms of career opportunities and both of them were finally FINALYL enjoying their real lives in "The Power of Three" and now they're stuck in the 30s without their friends or family or jobs or gorgeous house or fancy car. That sucks. And what was the field like for male nurses in the 30s? Not great, I'm guessing. Also, have fun with WWII y'all. (lol though at least being in NYC for WWII is preferable to being in Europe.)
I know!! I admit I like the Slap-Slap-Kiss trope, but it needs to be balanced with, well, kissing. TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS, MOFFAT. Although at this point...
