Well, even though August, the hottest month of the summer, is here, there is also no denying the fact that summer is also on its last legs. I was going to take Susanne, a coworker from my new job, to pick blueberries this morning. In fact, in order to go, the near impossible happened: I awoke at 8am on a Saturday. Unfortunately, when I made my usual "double check" phone call to the u-pick farm, I was handed the grim news, "Sorry, the season is over. You're more than welcome to poke around the bushes and see if you can find any, but if you're coming from any distance, it won't be worth the trip." ::cries::

So I spent a productive morning cleaning, instead. :-P

Lots of things have been kicked up lately:
• As I mentioned already, I started a new job. I thought I was taking a pay cut to get back into the nonprofit world, but after I received my first paycheck, it seems that not only was I wrong but a raise was involved too. Sweet!

• Unlike the previous gig, the new one is tons of work - which is really nice. But it also means I have no time to check email or hop online. I've learned something as a result: most of the e-newsletters and whatnot I got are little more than mental clutter. I can't believe how tiring they all are. Totally weird.

• Next, my sister and I booked our vacation to Paris and London for this fall. It's for 8 days and is right before Thanksgiving, so I'll just stay in Orlando after our return for the holiday!

• Mom was going to visit this weekend. Unfortunately, their pup's been sick all week, so she stayed home. In her place, she sent a box of clothes. One of the Orlando stores closed for remodeling just after they received a new shipment and then reopened right after they got in their fall stock which means they unloaded the first shipment for a steal. Over $1000 worth of clothes for $180. Squee!!

• Jon's Going Away party is tonight. I'm in serious denial. I don't want him to leave. Alas, since I helped convince his the move was a great idea (which it is - for him), it's not like I can complain. I'm going to miss him so much.

Ok, time to get back to cleaning. I have boxes lined up in my bedroom, so I can sort through old clothes for donation. The numbers for several local charity groups are on the frig, and there's no time like the present...
