I love life when life loves me

Had such a wonderful day in so many aspects that I just can't help myself. Essentially, nothing huge or earth shattering had happened, but that just proves you that happiness is indeed in the little things.

First off, I saw my hairdresser in the morning for a hair cut. We had a nice chat, a few laughs, and I walked away feeling good and pretty on top. Then as I was just getting ready to leave for vocal training, my friend who is also working with the same coach called me to say that our trainer wants me to come over with her to the private lesson. (I had to ditch the private lessons this period because of financial issues.) So I rushed over and once I was there, this lovely woman offered to take me again for private lessons. For free. See, she is moving to Belgium next year and said that she didn't want anyone to fall out right at the end. It was just so sweet.

Also, because I've been sick the past two weeks, I haven't been to the group classes either. It was really amazing to have the people there be so nice, asking why I was away and saying they missed me from practice. They really did warm my heart so much.

Then I had to rush off because there was a conference on Canada today and I spied that the amazing professor of all amazing from the Canada tour was coming over too. So we agreed to meet up at the reception and had a jolly good time. He is one of the most amazing people I've ever had the privilege of getting to know. And if that weren't enough to make anyone's day, we had such a lovely discussion with a couple of other people on culture and consumerism. This probably sounds silly but the feeling when you stand there, with all these high academic people, professors, professional translators and such, and they actually do listen to you. Even though they are 20-30 years your senior, and not only do they listen to what you have to say, but you find them nodding and agreeing and spinning off on the points you have raised.

I guess it's one thing to experience intellectual heaven during your studies and actually being treated as though you are a part of it. There is this acute sense of self-importance and belonging (in the best meaning of these words) in discovering you indeed have that sort of worth. I don't know, it just really makes me happy.
