Sherry was woken by the clattering of pots and pans in the kitchen, which to a normal ear would've been indistinguishable but to her remarkable hearing was clearly audible. She stretched, giving her fur a cursory shake to settle it back into place, and leapt daintily down from the bed. Beneath the covers, Mastergear stirred at the sudden loss of warmth beside him. "Go back to sleep," the kitsune murmured, and her voice was enough to calm him.
She went down the staircase in a few easy bounds, as confident in her natural form as any human resident would've been, and turned towards the kitchen. Aligoté was taking down mixing bowls and humming to himself, unaware of her presence. Sherry decided to watch for a few moments before making herself known; it was rare enough to see him in a good mood. He was dressed lightly with his small black wings unconstrained by one of his modified shirts, and in the privacy of Izayoi's halls he'd dispensed with the concealing sleeves he used to cover his scarred arms in public. Sherry was one of the few people who knew the origin of those scars, that they'd originally been his wings before the transformation of his normal form.
"I see your warbling hasn't improved with time," she finally said, her words sardonic but good natured. Their relationship was always one of constant playful antagonism, both of them comfortable with that.
