So ever since I saw the Star Trek movie, I’ve gone on a Star Trek series binge-watching DS 9 for the first time (a little to dark for my tastes; I’m a TNG girl at heart, although I do like how DS9 has more roles for the ladies beyond nurturing and taking dictation), and the Original Series which I had always assumed would be too cringeworthy but is just so much pure innuendo and absurdity (cf absurdity: youtube “Kirk vs. Gorn”; cf innuendo:...well any Spock/Kirk interaction) I cannot stop laughing. Basically, I want the hotness of the movie cast to superimpose itself on the hilarity of the series.
But somehow this started me thinking about what a PT/Star Trek fusion (what is your problem, brain? everything is not about PT!). This all started because I wanted Fakir to growl, “Damn it! Autor, I’m a dancer not an engineer!”
Then it just went downhill from there-hmmm, Fakir would make a very good klingon, you know the aggression, the gruffness, the obsession with honor. Maybe the Raven can be the borg and Mythos and Rue can be taken over? Although Mythos would also make a pretty good android and can have emotion chips returned to him. Princess Tutu can be some sort of betazoid empath (although Deanna Troi really always irritated me...)? Well, maybe she can be a secret empath but is actually some low-level drudge on the ship who miraculously comes by to help people with her empath-powers? Autor can be an engineer and maybe Edel can run the bar? Or would she be a better medical officer? I kind of want Drosselmeyer to be the ship but that doesn’t give him enough controlling powers.
Actually, maybe he can be a disturbing and cryptic captain who gets his crew into terrible situations for the fun of watching them flounder? Great, now my vision of TNG is being darkened by PT
But I think the (lack of) plot is the biggest problem I would run into (I’m sensing a pattern here), which is for the best.
Also, I thought maybe I would start listing what I am currently reading for my quals in order to shame myself into doing work. So far 0/200 texts read and analyzed...Wow, with things looking so grim, it’s no wonder I fall for the escapist lure of fic.
