So I just pulled an eight pager right out of the ol' crapper. Yup. Problem is, the minimum length was decreed as twelve pages. Whoops. I think I'm gonna have to take a 'B' in that class like a man. No straight 'A's for me.
Final grade notwithstanding, I'm just glad it's done. Only the Japanese final remains, which will hopefully require a scant day of study for adequate preparation.
The other half of my day consisted of writing a couple piddly diddies, one of which features some beatboxing action...I think it sounds kind of like Bjork's Medulla album, but that's only because I was humming parts that will ultimately be played on piano or some shit. The other one was kind of "band"-oriented, so I think I could market it to Shugs & Co., and maybe we could even record it...but I don't know if he or anyone will like it, so I'm jumping the gun a bit.
I read something quite apropos to my current self-actualization process as regards feminism. The informal report by Watanabe Kazuko describes her students' (both in college and in women writers' courses at women's centers) reactions to the novel Little Women. Many of her students applauded the traditional depictions of woman as maternal and self-sacrificing, but some who were "...exposed to feminist criticism or those who have innate feminist consciousness seem disturbed..." I've never before heard anyone use the phrase "innate feminist consciousness", but it describes my experience very well. The little feminist exposure that I did have in an academic setting was enough to uncover some kind of hidden awareness.
This entry doesn't have any ending that would fit, so I'll just throw out random trivia. In looking to make sure of the correct spelling for "wail" (as in "I'm gonna wail on my cello"), I found two interesting things: 1)That word is still not in the dictionary and 2)The verb "wale" is British dialect for "choose".
