That's where my grandma was born and even though they run tours up there constantly it is the least touristy place I've visited in Hawaii. If I can find access to a scanner sometime in the near future I'll try to send you some pics.
My mom also told me that the big island is pretty nice, but I haven't been there myself so I dunno.
A new doggie! That sounds very fun :) And if he needs lovin' then he's definitely in the right place because you've got a ton of love stored up :) Puppy won't know what hit him! I like Cooper... like Mini? Or there's always Austin (like Powers)... :)
And backpacking?! Sounds like an adventure for you, I'm glad you're moving out of your comfort zone a bit and trying new things.
I've always dreamed of going to the Kentucky Derby... but I never really thought normal folk could go! A lot is starting to occur to me these days :)
I don't know when I'm going to Hawaii. Things are a little rough right now. I need a vacation to clear my mind. But I have a lot of debt to pay off too. I'm in debt to get all the stuff it takes to be a photographer... which is what I want. But living at home is emotionally crippling me. It's a lot to handle, but I'm doing the best I can.
Girl anyone can go to the derby...it's just a matter of how much money are willing to spend to be there. LOL, you can do the big party in the infield for $40 as long as you don't mind that you probably won't be able to see the horses at all. The people seem to have a hella good time there though. I'm not sure how much it costs to get real seats though. If you ever decide to go, let me know. I live right around the corner from the track, but I've never actually gone to the Derby either. We have the party and watch it all on tv. Then we usually walk over to the track right after the derby is run because you get in free then. LOL
I'm thinking about going to the Breeders cup this year since it's gonna be here this year and it falls on my birthday. Could be something fun to do. :)
I hope that things get better for you at home. I know that living at home can be trying. I'm lucky though and I'm appreciating more and more that my mother doesn't really bother me much anymore.
