Holy shit, Kishimoto, two in a row. First mercy, then a will of his own again. I knew there was something completely wrong about Sasuke just surrendering his soul to Orochimaru. I knew he wasn't the type to be broken down so easily. He has fight left in him. That stubborn defiance he always had. He's going to do this his way--the snake was just a means to an end.
There is absolutely nothing to describe how good it is to have canon backing up your arguments at last. Absolutely nothing. I'm so damn happy right now. If only NF wasn't down so I could go rant happily over there. Not that I'd be the first, late to the party as I am (damn aversion to spoilers)... but still. =P
NF being down also makes me curious as to what the obligatory bitching is about this week. Orochimaru, probably, and the fact that Sasuke's gonna take him on. I can see it either turning into "Sasuke's such a cheater, only taking on Orochimaru when he's lying in his sickbed" (which in reality terms translates to "Sasuke is intelligent and not suicidal"), or "Sasuke's too overpowered!" (which translates to "Sasuke is capable of taking on a weakened Sannin, which is only to be expected seeing as his rival's just surpassed Kakashi"). Well, you know what, fandom? Bring it on. Still ecstatic here. XD
EDIT: Haha, check and check. Pleasantly surprised to see the majority of Telegrams dominated (for once) by people equally pleased as I am, though. :D
