Eeteuk was exhausted, absolutely dead tired from the constant standing and flashes. Sure it was fun to get your picture taken like a model, but it was tiring!
He yawned loudly and turned his head away from the camera flashes to rub at his eyes when he felt a tug on his sleeve.
“Eeteuk?”
“Yeah?”
“Who’s that guy?”
Eeteuk looked over Sungmin’s shoulder and shrugged. “He might just be here for his photoshoot.”
“Oh,” Sungmin nodded, “That makes sense.”
He turned to walk away, but stopped mid-step and frowned, “Kangin told me that he’s my new dongsaeng, but I used a word Heechul taught me and he shut up.”
Eeteuk’s eyes narrowed, “What? I didn’t know that guy was in SM…”
“Sungmin,” Yehsung stepped behind him put a hand on Sungmin’s shoulder, “What did I tell you about telling Eeteuk?”
“Oops,” Sungmin’s eyes went wide and he sprinted off behind the line of flashing lights toward the other group members.
“Wait! Sungmin, get back here now!” Eeteuk rubbed at his temples. He was too exhausted to deal with a hyperactive Sungmin, but he wanted answers. What word did he learn from Heechul? But more importantly, who WAS that guy?
“Yehsung…”
Yehsung smiled, “Heechul just taught him how to say ‘Bull’ in English.”
His hyung looked at him confused for a moment, slowly he spoke, “Okay…. What does that make the new guy over there, then?”
Yehsung glanced over his shoulder where Eeteuk was pointing and shrugged, “Oh, I don’t know. Siwon said something like he was a replacement for something.”
“A replacement for what exactly?”
Yehsung shrugged and walked off muttering about getting a water as Hankyung pried himself away from the rest of the group and walked toward him.
Eeteuk gave a small wave, “What’s going on over there?”
The chinaman’s eyebrows rose as if he did not know what his hyung was saying, “Huh? Oh, nothing… they’re just getting their pictures taken with the new guy.”
Eeteuk did a double take with the guy holding a spiky, metallic-looking instrument, about the size of a violin.
“What did you say?”
“Oh, sorry, hyung. Was my sentence bad? I can-“
“About the ‘new guy,’ who is he?”
Hankyung looked stunned for a moment at his hyung’s sharpness, he spoke timidly, “Kibum said he was joining Super Junior.”
“WHAT?!”
Eeteuk stormed over to the growing mass of people including the cordi-noonas and various photographers. He pushed through people without even so much as an ‘excuse me’ until he reached the young man who looked no older than Kyuhyun, flirting with his cordi-noonas… HIS cordi-noonas. Who does this guy think he is?
He cleared his throat and tapped his new enemy on the shoulder, “Excuse me, my name is Eeteuk and I think you’re in the wrong room.”
The guy glanced over his shoulder and looked him up and down. He smiled, “You must be Super Junior’s leader.”
He held out his hand, the one that was not occupied with holding what looked like his electric violin.
“Who are you?” the leader blurted, ignoring the hand, the sign of friendship, reaching to make a truce.
“I’m the player, and your music is going to sound a heck of a lot better with my violin than it has in the past.”
Eeteuk’s eyes narrowed. If he was going to join Super Junior, even temporarily, there was no room for his attitude. Eeteuk had to work with Heechul and Donghae, who had extremely smug attitudes. It wasn’t a problem in most cases, but this was going too far. Especially in Eeteuk’s tired mood.
Eeteuk frowned, “I’m glad you think our music will sound better now.”
Siwon stepped up behind Eeteuk as a support; Kangin would have given him better support, but he was probably off cowering in Umma’s preemptive anger, sensibly finding a good bomb shelter before World War III because of his knack to spread rumors.
The young man wasn’t as tall as Siwon, gratefully, so Eeteuk could show a thing or two to the man using Siwon as leverage. Siwon, however, just bent near Eeteuk’s ear and whispered, “Eeteuk, I think it would be a good idea to become friends with him.”
“Why?” Eeteuk whispered harshly back, giving a wane smile to the outsider, the violin player, the intruder, the one who didn’t belong, the person who-
“Because I think the manager is going to keep him.”
WHAT?
