It's as camp as a row of tents but it's just an event that has to be in the diary. Some people take it sooooo seriously. Others just enjoy it and laugh at Terry Wogan as he gets more pissed and starts making those comments only Terry can make.
If you can't wait for the contest itself (date for the diary: 12th May) then you can warm up on the 17th March when the UK chooses it's song. Thank the gods that we didn't pick Jordan last year. So I was interested to stumble over this years contestants on the BBC web site:
