Okay so the reaction from fans before Casino Royale was released was not good. But, I've been a Bond fan since I was a kid, I look forward to the next film - I even like the much deplored George Lazenby outing as 007 in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. So if anyone's gonna get on with the new film surely I would ( Read more... )

Well like I said it might just be me - the other three people I went with all enjoyed it, although from press reports I'm not the only one.

Hey I quite liked Tomorrow Never Dies as I just kept drawing parallels with Bill Gates and Rupert Murdoch... ahh well a bit of media escapism...

Le Chiffre as a ruthless bastard? Well possibly... but it doesn't beat Goldfinger and the laser "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die [evil laughs]"

Have to say I prefer the Pierce Brosnan films *now* compared to Roger Moore, although I did quite like the Roger Moore one's back then.

Ahhh well it's a good debating point ;-)

Well I was quite shockied to read that as no one has had a bad word to say, and everyone has been spewing praise left right and centre. "Grittier filmd", "Bond as he should ahve been," "No stupid gadgets getting in the way", "superb performance" have all been commented by my MSN budies who have seen it.
Cinema is a luxury at the moment for me as I just have to spend nothing right now, but when it is DVD released I will catch it. have to say, I have mixed feelings as I love a good story, a worthwhile villain, LOTS of gadgets, the familiar faces of his back up team, and I really dont like going back in time. But we shall see. In my view the Star Wars films failed in my eyes. I wont ever be urged to buyign the first three, they just never matched up.

Oh I think there's a few people out there that don't like it but it could be just a minority. Let me know what you think when you've managed to catch it on DVD!

Will do.

Is it just me or does everyone else also have to now log in for each and every single message. What a pain in the arse this security is. I tick log in, save me and all that gubbins each time, and it used to remember me... now it doesn't.

sorry side tangent there, its just bugging me.

Well, I enjoyed the movie, but agree that the poker-playing part was drawn out and boring. I assume they did it because poker is the latest fad.

It seems strange that Dench was in and everyone else was out. She's great in the part, but not indispensable. If you're going to say Brosnan is too old to play the younger Bond, how do you justify gray-haired Dench?!

I have to say that Craig was a terrific choice. And I enjoyed the "more Bond, less tech" approach. Frankly, I think the majority of the Bond movies were lame, second-rate films -- almost too lame to spoof. If they ever made a spy movie version of "Mystery Science 3000", I'd think more than a few of the old Bond movies would be appropriate fodder.
