Boxing Day plus one

I'm back in London having spent Christmas in Brighton and wow, the relief at broadband and wi-fi being back is just enormous.  God I hate dial-up.  Feels really strange coming back as usual...  Brighton as a town doesn't really feel like home anymore yet when I come back to London I just miss it loads and want to move back.

A few mentions of my nan over Christmas didn't really help my mood.  I was always close to my nan - she lived in the same town and as kids we would go over to see her every Friday night without fail for years.  Mind you my whole family are a bit like that - its rare for five days to go by without speaking to my folks for at least half an hour.  I didn't realise but it's coming up to the ten year anniversary of her death, which was pretty traumatic at the time as I had the job of phoning and telling my mum the news as everyone else was abroad at the time :-(  But I said to mum that I'd head back for the anniversary next summer and I think she appreciated that.

My mood isn't helped that my sugar levels have nose-dived as I don't have an endless supply of choccies and other food to hand.  Note to self: go out and buy a load of fruit tomorrow.  Until then I'm probably a bit more MiserableSpence(TM) than I would be usually.  Having spent three days in Brighton not being surrounded by all the things usually all around me screaming "do this" I was at a bit of a loose end.  stuff I'm at a bit of a loose end despite being back.

But to brighten my mood, in the news today, John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness in Dr Who and Torchwood) signed a civil partnership with his partner Scott Gill.  Awww.  I really have to admire those couples that go through those ceremonies.  I'd love to, but sadly, it's just not an option at the moment.. maybe one day.  But before I return to MiserableSpence(TM) mood than if that John Barrowman news has wetted your whistle then try looking at his official web site here, sadly not enough pics though.

One of my Christmas presents included a great book of recipies for village cookies and biscuits from the English counties...  I think tomorrow I'm gonna be in full-baking mood...  fab!

Quick, thank-you to
