"Centrist", My Ass!

Aug 09, 2006 14:58

How do these people get away with this shit? All these conservative pundits are mourning the death of the Democratic party, saying that reasonable centrists are no longer welcome in the "modern, moonbat, small tent, leftist Democratic party". Republicans call Lieberman's defeat "a shame".

It shouldn't take anyone who isn't comatose or brain dead much effort to notice that the only reason conservatives and Republicans want Joe Lieberman in office is because he's one of them on the big issues. They're mourning the loss of a subservient, neutered Democratic party, not the loss of reason and cooperation in politics. When they talk about Joe Lieberman as a "centrist", what they're really saying is "more right wing than anyone else in his party of bitches". They certainly don't value centrism in their own party; some "moderate" Republican incumbent somewhere in Michigan just lost his primary to a fire breathing conservative. Why isn't that national news? Oh, right. Because moving to right is sensible, while moving to the left is wacky. No one's deriding the lunatic Right fringe, not on the blogs and not in office. It's always the "radical Left".

You have the White House accusing the Democratic party of "catering to the extreme left", and of course, they're talking about the position on the war in Iraq. Except it isn't the lunatic fringe Left who's against the travesty of policy we have in Iraq, it's the majority of the country, you dip shits.

So spare me all your crocodile tears about the sad fate of the Democratic party, Mr. Hannity, Mr. O'Relly, Mr. Horowitz, Mr. Bush. For once, things went our way, and we're fine with that. And so is most of the country.

p.s., Hey, Horowitz! Have you had a lobotomy recently? I don't know how else to explain this:

"The reason that we went after Saddam Hussein is obvious now, isn't it? ... It's to prevent -- it's to prevent Iraq from becoming Iran."

Funny, then, that due to our involvement, Iraq is looking more and more like Iran every day. Funny how we invaded a country that was at odds with Iran, and set up a "democracy" that has put it closer to Iran than ever. We, and Israel, have done a pretty good job of bolstering Iran's power and support in the region, if you hadn't noticed. I doubt that was your goal, so how can you not see the policy you support as anything other than an abject failure? I'm not going to bother with a "too much kool aid" joke. I just think you're fucking evil and insane.
