Sweet 16!
I'm irrationally excited for alicetiara's going away/Super Sweet 16 party at the Bus Stop tonight. It will be great to have so many people together in the same place, and a place I love going to.
After work, though, I need to get a haircut and buy some party clothes. Tonight requires something beyond my normal casual schleppy wardrobe. I have some ideas, but my ideas rarely pan out when it comes to shopping. For instance, last Halloween, I thought dressing as a villain from a live action Japanese children's action show like the Power Rangers would be easy, but I had to give up after many fruitless shopping excursions.
Last night I stayed in and did a few loads of laundry in preparation for the big drive, oh-five. BORING. But just as I was about to put in a Netflix movie, Starship Troopers, one of TNT's "new classics" came on. TNT, I could not agree with you more! I love this movie!
I want to see some sci-fi, military action movie starring Casper van Dien and Jamie Bamber from Battlestar Galactica as two gritty, hardboiled, intimidating as hell commanders who would probably butt heads until they put aside their differences and team up against the alien threat at the end. It would be hilarious! Casper and Jamie, in their respective roles in Troopers and Galactica, often have to "get tough", and they're such nancies about it that it is unintentionally hilarious. It would be like the cast of Queer Eye in Apocalypse Now
Also, I love this idea. When I was a kid, I wanted to live in Africa to protect the wildlife and hunt poachers. Well, why do it in Africa and get all those shots when I could do it here in the good ol' US of A? If there were a wildlife reserve like this, I would consider abandoning my other goals and working there, for real. And it would hearken back to the good old days when you might have seen something like this:
