eh, livejournal coding is a bitch, and i've never seen anyone working with sidebars/span/div the way this is written, so it's quite possible there's just something wacked somewhere that i'm not noticing? lol

ahh, it's just the header image and the sidebar that's being a douche...it's gotta be something in the sidebar coding. i probably have to go for the night shortly, but if you're willing to live with semi-norm-dysfunction for the night, i can try again tomorrow afternoon. it's gotta be possible, looking at her preview of it, i just gotta fiddle with it. =]
