Prius Comes Home
I like my new job. Eventhough I was on user support yesterday, I was able to leave work in the middle of the afternoon for 2 hours to pick my car up. The damage to the Prius has been fixed and the dealership even got me a free loaner for the 3 days it was in the shop. I need a good name for the Prius. Else, it will be called The Prius in the same way that we call the other car The Jeep.
I've learned a lot in the last month. If you want to be an x-ray crystallographer then there is no better way to learn lots and lots of difficult crystallography than being a beamline scientist. Unfortunately, I can't talk about the specifics of my work in a public forum because intellectual theft is so rampant. I also have really flexible hours and vacation time. Oh, and good benefits and a good paycheck. I guess you can't beat it as long as you are willing to put in the 8-10 years of education required to prepare for the job.
