My obligatory Christmas update is a little late, but I still feel that it's valid. I don't think I'm going to give an a list of all my loot as I usually do. I will mention that I've been killing Scrubs Season Two and Band of Brothers hard... I got them Christmas Day and have watched 2/3 of Scrubs and 3/4 of BoB. I also got "The Adventures of Milo and Otis", probably my favorite childhood movie. It was a true surprise and really cool to get... nostalgia, ahhhhh.
As a kid, I was always a pretty good traveler. I could stand long car rides with a minimum of fuss, especially for my age. That still holds true today, as I can lay back, turn on my music, and just let my mind wonder for hours. Some of the crazy stuff I come up with really gives me a chuckle, and I thought I'd share a couple of revelations. This is not "deep" stuff, don't worry... just some random thoughts.
So, you know how you associate certain songs with certain people? The song comes on, and it reminds you of a certain person. So, I was just kinda mulling over how that usually seems to happen. I tried thinking of some songs that have people I know associated with them, and came up with:
Over and Over, Nelly/Tim McGraw
My Stupid Mouth, John Mayer
Yellow Submarine, The Beetles
Ol' Red, Blake Shelton
Tiny Dancer, Elton John
Gay Bar, Electric Six
Why Don't We Get Drunk, Jimmy Buffett
There are possibly more, but those are the ones that stand out. Almost all of them have stories attached, which are fun to recall. And even though these songs aren't necessarily my favorites, I find that I like hearing these songs in a different kind of way... just because they have a story and a face that go with them. Anyways... I know you can't force that kind of thing, but it'd be cool to have more songs to associate with people. So you guys get to work on that... remember, those above are already taken. And no, leaving a comment with a song you like doesn't get you associated with it...
So, the other thing I was thinking about was more introspective... though not any deeper. I really like analogies. No, I'm not going to make an analogy about how much I like them... that'd be corny. But, when I hear a good analogy from someone else, it makes me happier than it should for longer than it should.
I really wonder why these things entertain me like they do. Everyone has quirks, and I find that my favorite part of getting to know people is discovering their pet peeves or weird nuances. Whether it's hating feet with a passion, frequently dreaming about hanging out with an undead Vincent Price, being traumatized by a gang of 30 unruly ducks, or sharing my uncanny love for Cracker Barrel... it gives me a lot of satisfaction to know everyone else here is as screwy as me in their own little unique way.
That has gotten way too long... I've been typing on this thing on and off for over an hour. I'm going to leave it at that. Hope you were entertained...
