[Another text response? Asuka can already tell this thing is going to drive him crazy. On a whim, he touches the response--hey, it's worked for the other things, right?
And -yessssss-, it's working here as well! WHOO-HOO, TEXT TO SPEECH. Asuka is so not even questioning this awesome turn of events.]
Do you know where he is? Kid's probably freaking out worse than he was back when I found him again.
The Elegante. It was a ship with a crazy captain who, much like this place, took people from their worlds. We didn't know each other very long before things all went to hell, but we were friends.
Even though you always complained about me making you read.
[It's a rather bland attempt to lighten the mood.]
[Asuka grins at the mention of his supposed complaining about being made to read.]
That sounds about right. You should consider yourself lucky this weird thing will read it aloud for me!
[He doesn't know about that other stuff. Not that he really thinks she's -lying-, per se, but he doesn't remember any of it.
Of course, right now, he's feeling like it's more important to set everybody else at ease. He's -used- to moving from world to world; finding himself somewhere new hasn't rattled him at all. Hearing Jael relate the fact that apparently some other -him- had existed on a ship where she'd met him is weird, definitely weird, but at the same time he could see her reaction when he didn't remember who she was.
So he'll roll with it.]
If you say we were friends... I'll believe you.
Maybe I'm not the Asuka you met there-- [By the -Maiden-, that is a weird sentence to say!] --but I bet I'm still the same guy.
Obviously I'm not the same guy that you met--I'm betting we went through pretty different experiences--but I usually pride myself on being a good judge of character. If we were friends, it was because you are a good person.
I'd be stupid to walk away from that just because I don't know you here.
I haven't had a chance to look around yet, so if you want we can meet in one of our rooms or wait until I have a chance to find another suitable place.

On my way.
[And just like that, Asuka's out the door with barely a pause to take note of his own room number. He's up on the fourth floor, so he has to locate the stairs to go down, but all in all it's probably only five minutes or so before he's knocking at Jael's door.]
[She can hardly believe it, but hey, she can't really forget that voice either.]
Hito's here. You might wish to find him, he is probably having a hard time adjusting.

And of course it's me! The one and only, right?
[Wait.]
How did you know who I was? Who is this?

[Jael raises an eyebrow at her record, but hasn't quite realized this isn't Her Asuka.]
It's me, Jael. I thought the text would've been a giveaway.
Reply
Sorry, I think you may have be confused with somebody else.
[Which is weird, because she guessed his name straight off and knew him by his voice, so...]
Have we met before?

[Jael abruptly stops writing as she realizes this Asuka doesn't know her. The realization is surprisingly painful and disheartening.]
sorry. no we haven't.
Reply
I don't know about that.
[For a moment, there's silence, as Asuka wavers on whether to continue or not. But he does, a bit quieter.]
Even if I don't remember you, it seems like you remember me.
Where from?

Thanks Asuka. I knew I liked you for a reason.
We'll have to meet in person sometime soon.
Reply
Definitely. Just give me a place to find you, and I'll be there.

[Simple as that.]
If you want to wait, though, I'd understand that too.

I'm in room 1098, on the ground floor.
