Amy was almost positive that Harry Osborn was just being a 'guy' and that there was no possession behind any of his actions. She had actually been witness to more than a few possessions, and was pretty sure that whatever Harry had done to hurt Kara it wasn't because of a possession. If it had been after all there might have been more of a panic around the office. He was one of the firm's clients, and if anything had been 'hinky' with him aside from the usual rich person thing? There would have been a memo, along with a plan of action to resolve said problem.
There was no memo though, no phone calls in panic, or anything that would clue Amy in on the truth behind Harry being a 'guy' for any other reason than his chromosomes. Still Amy knew what it felt like to have your world cave in on you because of a guy. It had happened in the seventh grade, and one might even assume that it happened when Tucker and her broke up. It sucks when guys hurt you, and even more when you think you or some outside influence might have caused it.
So Amy did what she wished her own mother had done for her when she was crying over the lost love of one Michael Wentworth. If her own Mother had taken some moment to realize that all she needed was some solid proof that it wasn't her fault, or anyone elses it could have made a lot of her own personal anxiety go away.
So that afternoon Amy opted for a long lunch. Swinging by the records department she went to fetch one of the files that they had on Mr. Osborn. The firm was very on top of their records management and having skin and hair samples sequenced was just common protocal when signing a new client. After the mishap with the clone three years ago, Wolfram and Hart learned there lesson. Taking a single piece of Harry's hair out of the collection along with one of the surveillance photos they had Amy set off to her new house for lunch and a bit of casting.
She had prepped everything before she left for work that morning and all she needed was the piece of hair. It was a simple spell really, somewhat similar to the one that Buffy and her friends had used on her Mother back in High School. Although instead of looking for a witch, we were looking for something that wasn't Harry.
Setting her bag on the dining room chair Amy grabbed a can of Diet Coke and the sandwich she made the night before. Munching on some carrot sticks she started to get everything set for the spell. Setting the photo on it's end up against her brand new Napkin Holder she made sure that the small piece of mirror was aligned so that Harry's image was reflected in it. One small black pillar candle was set up and lit and then a small white taper was placed in a brand new holder next to the black pillar. The piece of hair was resting safely on the mirror so it wouldn't be misplaced.
After taking a healthy bite of her sandwich Amy double checked everything and was pleased that she had remembered it all. Her castings more recently had been mostly word derived so remembering the steps to an actual spell was a nice feeling. Once her bite was chewed and swallowed and washed down with a sip of Diet Coke Amy began the spell.
Placing the strand of hair between her fingers she placed it on the mirror carefully. She removed the taper candle from the holder and used the flame from the black candle to light the white one, then brought the flame down to the piece of hair. Once it was set on fire a small wisp of smoke rose up as it crackled and shrunk up into nothing.
"Pondero Recubo!" Amy spoke in Latin, right before she blew out the flame on the black pillar. Setting the white candle back in the holder she waited for the image in the mirror to distort or shift proving Kara was right. But it just stayed the same. Blowing out the white taper and cleaning up the mess Amy sighed and finished her lunch before heading back into the office.
It would have been nice to know that maybe just once it was something demonic that caused a guy to be a complete ass. On her way back into the office she
leaves Kara a voicemail hoping that she has already replaced her cell phone. Amy is upset that the spell didn't work and a bit frustrated that she still hasn't gotten very far on the B/G 522 project. Even with the extra supplies nothing seems to be breaking down whatever barriers that body has on itself.
Another problem for perhaps another night is all. Amy will figure something out, just like she hopes Kara will too.
