Challenge Response : Losing Control

Write about losing control.

Do you know what it feels like?

To really lose yourself in a moment?

To let go of everything that was holding you back, and just give in?

The rush of adreniline as it surges through your veins? The way it pops and crackles lightly along your skin almost like a calloused hand a millimeter above your arm. The way it pushes you forward as if nothing could catch you should you finally fall backwards. Darkness that clouds your eyes letting you see only truths that bend like light around a corner.

There are very few things that seep into your core like that. That bring you to the edge of whatever lie you cling to on a daily basis and make you realize just how petty you are. To make you look into yourself and wonder just how far you can go before collapsing.

The energy fades out. There is no way to cling to it and keep it with you forever. Unless you were born with it? Nothing is forever. It gets wasted away and used up, leaving you tossed aside waiting for the next time you let go.

It is almost ironic that you want to hold tight to the moments when you just let go, but that is how it works. You hold all this fear and tension deep within yourself, that maybe if you let go this one time, everything around you could crumble. That when your fingers finally unclamp around the ledge the fall will be to your death, or further. When you finally release? Finally let go of all those inhibitions that tie you to this world? It's freeing, and at the same time limited.

You can take every advantage that gets thrown your way. Every opportunity to let go, and give in to all the temptations that come your way. You can do all that and still know that you were at one point posed with the option of staying right where you are. There is always a ground zero.

That static state that most people live in just waiting for that chance to give in, to lose control.

If you know what it feels like?

That next chance is never too far away.
