Amy wasn't thrilled with going on a business trip. Especially when she found out why Kara was so stressed out. The little comment that Tucker left with her wasn't really helpful at all. Also the note about getting blood work done? How bizarre and slightly disturbing was that? However despite the oddness Amy still called her doctor and made an appointment.
She also finished packing and made sure all her reservations were set. Pacing a bit she wondered just what all she was going to need to get at this convention. She already had the office's FedEx account written down so she could ship straight to them instead of worrying about bringing odd things on the plane.
There was a lot for her to do, and only a week to do it. Well a bit less than a week. She was flying in earlier than planned just so she could see her dad and maybe visit a few friends. The thought crossed her mind about calling Michael and seeing about getting that dinner. It was a thought and for right now it would stay that way.
Finally figuring she had everything she was going to need she called the front desk of the hotel to arrange a cab to take her to the airport. They told her it would be about twenty minutes and that gave her just enough time to make one final look around and head to the lobby.
The cab was a few minutes late, but that was fine. They headed to the airport and Amy subjected herself to the normal airport hassle that everyone hated. Then rounding it out she subjected herself to the joys of airline travel. She made a mental note to start brushing up on her airborne castings. Sure most casters found it too flashy, but if she could get it under control it would eliminate the whole travel hassle.
The plane trip was long, and even longer since the business man seated beside her thought she would be interested in his most recent investment, Washable Soap. She thought about when she flew to Boston and had cast the silence spell. It was an option, but she wasn't sure if it was safe on such a small plane.
The offices had arranged her flight straight into JWA, and when the plane landed she pushed her way out of the confines of the plane. Taking in that humid slightly polluted smell of Orange County California. It was odd how a TV show could change the feeling of a place, but it was the "OC" now, and people thought it was somehow similar to the show. Although if someone finds Peter Gallagher roaming around Amy would be intersted in meeting him.
She moves through the terminal and collects her bags at the baggage claim and heads outside to find her dad waiting for her. He does the typical Dad thing, the slight knee bend with arms outstretched for a hug, complete with the big grin. Amy rolls her eyes and heads toward him beaming and glad to see him.
"Hey Dad!" She embraces him with a big hug and he smells like pine shavings. She breaks from him as he moves to pick up her bags. He runs down the usual questions of 'How have you been?' 'How is work?' and Amy begins to tell her father about all the changes in her life. From leaving Vegas to picking up work in Boston with her old employer.
It is going to be a long car ride to her hotel.
