What a weekend. I am still recovering it.
I don't think I have ever played up the bullshit artist as much as I did while working the 21+ table. I insinuated to many an older gentleman that they had to pull out ID. Most got the joke, pulled out their wallets, or pointed to their grey beards or bald heads, laughing at my obsurdity. Some got 'irked' that I didn't look at their date, others didn't get the joke that I was just teasing them about being ID'ed. Told most that I figured they had just become of age.
Anyhow, working for the Orphium rocks. Get free tickets to the shows, free/stronger drinks at various places, and of course being introduced to a segment of the artists/musicians/promoter crowd. Its nice not to have to wait in line.
Hung out with Joni, ran into a few people at late for the train. Drew some cartoon aliens for Ted. Told him his drawings needed to be skankier, and then he made me one of the best caffenated drinks I have ever sipped on. Walked through the square. Was driven to school and found some sustinance. Joni and I walked back to the office wondering what clever nicknames people have for us (Bitch #1 and Bitch #2, were tossed around). We also discussed the insestuous nature of the art-music crowd. Went to the main office, sat in some lovely leather chairs..Then went to find Luis, who took one look at the two of us and said that we looked like two cats that had just eaten a canary. Went to class, watched a weird movie. Got followed by one of my classmates practically into the women's room. Ran.
Skipped out on dinner plans and exchanged them for going to see a showing of Spinal Tap. Went home, read my mail, discovered my credits for bills have been applied; which means, I have a touch bit more money than I anticipated. Felt elated. Danced around to music. Thought about how much fun Asleigh and Jessica and I had tearing up the dance floor at Collins last Thursday...sorta hopign that she actually drives down from Vegas so we can have a repeat performance. Thursday nights aren't busy, but Jess and I managed to attract a bunch of misguided youth. Hopefully this time, the dj wont play as fucked up of a selection of music...and no one will down my ADM with my back turned.
Looked through old photogrpahs, working on a presentation I have while thinking about what to use for upcoming lectures. Discussed potential halloween costumes. Better get working on it, since we're as of this moment themed and people arent really thinking of costumes at the moment so nothing is sold out ...although I like the idea of going to Goodwill and the sewing place and making my costume. Cakes is going as Medusa and myself as Athena. Can't wait!
Listened to a lot of music. Some of which really surprised me. Who knew this
pop tart had talent. I'm shocked at how much I like the song. I blame this good mood and not being able to stop moving. That and being really surprised someone wrote a reactionary song in what I thought was all bubblegum and skin tight clothes...I'm rather upset there isn't a music video to go along with this song, but the
live version is good too.
Worked on both my thesis and horror-scopes. Felt productive and exhausted. Now to wash my hair and do this all over tomorrow.
Maybe next time, less pop, and more thumpy thumpy sounds and less heart burn.
