So I spent Thursday through Saturday in Chapel Hill, NC interviewing for the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering in their School of public health and touring the town. The interview went really well, running 10 minutes over time allotted, and I really clicked with my potential adviser. She even said I was a strong candidate for a joint appointment between the Department of ESE and Marine Sciences, which was something that they were waiting for the right candidate to start the program. Though there is one major problem, my potential adviser is a new professor and she doesn't have any extra funding right now, so we will have to see were this goes.
I also have great news from USF, on Thursday afternoon I had a phone interview with a potential adviser which also went well (he reminds me a little Al Beulig). He as asked me to took over his list of current projects and to let him know which project I want to work on, and he will become my mentor for USF which the next major step for my application there. USF also has the same problem with lack of fund, so I will have to track down my own funding if I go there. Either way I have good news from two programs, both of which are my top two picks, which is nice after the three nos from the anthro programs I applied to. I still haven't heard from UW Seattle, which should be sometime this month, so some possible good news still floating out there in the either.
Now just to make sure I can graduate from UW-Madison, shouldn't be too hard .
Anyways, I will post again once I know more things about where I'm going for my PhD
Peace,
Rob
